The setting of the sun was masked by the shadowed clouds weaving themselves into the darkening sky. Whispers of wind warned any live beings in reach, the process had already begun.
A lone man stood there, the cape flapping behind him as the winds whisked around his frame. His eyes fixed onto the unknown phenomenon that was occurring before him.
All was silent, until the screeching of mythical beings ensued. They cried and screamed as the world was torn apart from it's very foundations, the dimensions shifting to accommodate the destruction and rebirth of the worlds.
The Mage was still there unable to move as his magic shielded him from the death and destruction brought on by the winds of change. Howling dragons in the distance shook the worlds very base with their screams, the rebirth, had begun.
The light struck my eyes as I woke, the howling dragons still ringing in my ears, as I slowly gained consciousness I realised I wasn't at home in bed anymore.
There was grass beneath me feet and moss cradling my head.
As I sat up to gather my surroundings my chest tightened painfully. Irrational fear grasped my mind in its grip, my pulse racing as perspiration beaded on my forehead. There weren't any sounds of wildlife around me, that could only mean one of two things either there was a large predator somewhere nearby and maybe even possibly that he was still in the virtual game.
He'd done this before and nearly had a heart attack each time, there had been rumours of people getting stuck in the system unable to leave. Doomed in a coma until their conscious was retrieve and sometimes even then when they came back they didn't remember anything.
His thoughts were startled by the ominous sounds of large flapping wings, quickly he spoke the verbal command to leave the game hoping that the deep rumble that was approaching him was just a part of the game, the commands came up but as he pressed the 'log out' sign a distinctly robotic female voice spoke "Process unavailable, pl..se" her voice faded out in a garbled mess of overtones. He pressed the buttons again but to no avail the message didn't reappear.
His heart beat painfully fast as the realisation began to sink in, he was stuck in the systems of virtual reality - just like all the other rumours he'd listened to and dismissed. In that moment shadows fell over the clearing, the sun a mere streak of silver in the sudden shadows that encased the clearing. Everything went dark.

A party of 5 had been travelling when a beam of light and a dragons roar shook the ground beneath their party, bracing themselves for the worst they travelled through the forest towards the disturbance.
They weren't expect to find a small looking young man with forests nymphs guarding his resting place, in that exact moment a giant forest wyrm broke through the earth in an attempt to swallow the young man whole.
The warrior took formation immediately as the others in his team who had combative abilities took turns in slicing up the enemy as their priest cast purification charms and healing spells to keep them from harm and weakening their opponent. As they fought the young man gained consciousness and saw the wyrm approaching him.
It's jaws were wide open, several sets of teeth and the fleshy open mouth of the monster awaited the tasty morsel before it. In a moment of panic the Mage boy cast the first enchantment that came to mind which summoned the blazes of hell. They roared as they devoured the enemy of their summoner.
The putrid smell of burning flesh was how they first met, The Mage and the travelling party of various species. With many adventures to come, revelations to be unmasked and peoples lives to be changed.
