The world is a dangerous and scary place. Some may choose to isolate themselves from it or they may fight against it. I personally feel that the people who fight against it are the heroes. Even if it is just speaking out against one thing or choosing to formulate their own opinions on things and not let modern society influence them. It is all a form of retaliation.
I wish a was one of those people. I'm the type of person who is never really remembered. The person who sits at the back of the class, only answering questions when asked. I am the type of girl who sits with no one, but everyone. It's almost as if I'm too invisible even be on the social rankings of my high school. If that even is a real thing.
People, when they even notice me, see a dully dressed girl with short, shaggy black hair and green eyes hidden behind prescribed sunglasses. You see, I can't see that well in day light, but when its dark, no one can see better than me. My mom said it is kind of like I have selective eyesight, like how some people have selective hearing. Mum says that because no doctor has ever given us a solid diagnosis on what exactly is wrong with me. Some say that it might be because my retina has not developed enough, while others say a whole different thing. Eventually we just decided to live with it. It's not like anyone notices me anyway and frankly I don't care anymore. Well of course I cared for the first years that I was around others my age, but I started to eventually notice that no one even commented upon them. My life basically consisted of daily martial arts training and studies.
My name is Maddie and my life went coo-coo bananas on one chilly Spring day in Minnesota.
Would anyone give me any pointers on what to do to this to make it better (my first time putting up a story, that was not a fanfiction, up for people to read)? I would love your feed-back. Thanks guys :)
