The moment he saw her he knew she had to be his.

Long black hair, plump red lips, deep brown eyes, mocha brown skin...all these beautiful features were really doing a number on him. All he could was stare at her thin frame, watch as she elegantly stalked across the room as if she owned it. Her dress was very flattering; dipping low into the middle of her breasts, showing a lot of cleavage, yet just the right amount. Her legs were long and shapely; the lightly-shaded purple dress ending what seemed to be three inches above her knees.

She looked nice, really nice.

But anyone with two eyes would've known that.

All eyes were on her; boys' eyes filled with lust, girls' eyes filled with envy. It seemed as if she enjoyed all the eyes on her though, she was practically glowing underneath all the stares, yet her eyes were on one person and one person only.

It was a boy her eyes were on. And that made his blood boil.

He wished he was the one she was focusing so intently on, but he knew that if she was then he'd look away blushing under such an intense gaze like a little girl who had a crush on a teenager. Yes, he was what you could call a wimp. Everyone said he was a wimp, and he believed them, for it was quite true.

Finally, he looked away from the scene in front of him, and went back to what he using currently. Using the ladle, he pushed the deep red punch around casually, waiting for someone to approach him and ask for him to fill their cup up with some punch. No, it wasn't really fun, but at least it sure beat standing in a random corner of the room, keeping his eyes on that mocha-skinned beauty, knowing that as much as he might want her, he would never get her. So he decided to just busy himself with his "punch duty."

It was a birthday party for his obnoxious cousin Jay; he was turning eighteen today, and you'd think he'd be less immature, but it seemed that he turned more immature each time his birthday came along.

Since Jay hated his guts, he forced him to be on punch duty. His parents told him he didn't need to do that, but he told them he didn't mind. At least this way he wouldn't have to ask a girl to be his date for the party, for he really sucked as asking girls and all they would do was shoot him down anyway.

Now, he wasn't exactly ugly, if he'd say so, anyway, but girls just didn't like the quiet and shy types. They liked the cocky and loud types, the bad boy types: boys like Jay.

If he wasn't so shy and quiet, at least some girls would like him, for he had the messy black hair and the vibrant blue eyes with the creamy white skin and the blinding white teeth along with the occasional freckles here and there combo all down pat. There were a few zits and pimples here and there, but they were usually covered up with his hair for they were either near his ears or on his temple.

But his name was one of the things he hated about himself, right up there with his shy and quietness.

Kurtis Normandy.
