There was a slight nip in the air but just being here with this amazing woman was enough to make me feel a little bit warm inside and as we walked I often thought what she saw in someone like me when she had such an exciting life.

We strolled along the promenade which overlooked the sandy beach and the coastline which I had come to know as home, the inviting blue water rippled as the moon cast its shadow over the crest of it and this created the image of complete and utter bliss.

I occasionally looked across at her and smiled big and proud knowing that this single moment would be forever etched in my memory but I wanted to say such more.

We crossed over the bay as the sands began to stretch out and then found a rickety old bench to which we sat upon, she leant back and exhaled for a long time and that gave me a chance to really look at the beautiful woman beside me…

“Its marvellous here, I feel so calm and relaxed”.

“Its the high bombardment of positive ions in the stratosphere”.

She turned quizzically to look at me.

“That sounds lovely but then I guess that I expected nothing less from you”.

“Oh why is that?”

“I was talking with Amber, you see I can get quite nervous talking to people for the first time and so I felt at ease to know a little about your background and when she said your majoring in Astronomy I hatched a little plan”.

“To take a walk this way?”

“Yes and to get you alone of course”.

“Really and why would you want to do that?”

“I have a confession, you see I don’t do crowds”.

“But your the owner of the club”.

“I know but it can get quite claustrophobic and besides most of the women who are in the club would happily suck up to me in order to appear more enticing than they actually are, I get that a lot and it frustrates me how people use my wealth and experience to their advantage”.

“That sounds terrible”.

“You saw the man I was with, thats my brother and he has been attempting to get me to open myself up more but its difficult and instead of pursuing my own happiness I chose to let the business control me instead”.

“He seems like a nice guy”.

“He is and was a rock when my ex used the title I possessed to get herself noticed more which wasn’t a bad thing but she got other women to see her as approachable and naturally they ended up sleeping with her because they were expecting to get something back”.

“Well you may not believe this but I would never do something like that to anyone”.

“Ive opened myself to the possibility of being happy and maybe with you, as you may have been told I don’t just buy anyone a drink but there is something about you that I found……approachable”.

“Thanks, this is all relatively new to me”.

“The club?”

“Yes with work and studies I don’t get much time for hobbies, never mind a night out so this has been something of a revelation for me”.

“You work and study, so what is it you do?”

“Nothing that exciting, I work for the daily rag and help edit the wildlife journal, so seeing this picturesque place is good material plus I have a photographic memory and that works to my advantage making sure I capture every detail”.

“How do you do that?”

“Pencil sketching”.

“Hmmm you sound so much more interesting than I imagined, I wonder what other surprises and hidden talents you have”.

I looked into her eyes and then bit my bottom lip.

“Shall we go and find out?”

We carried on walking for a short while until the coastline suddenly moved and it was time to move inland, the waves were known to get quite choppy and anyone close by could be dragged out and even the most brilliant swimmers could be lost.

As it turned out Carmens place was very close to the end of the promenade, I was expecting from her general demeanour that the place she had was not too extravagant and that maybe she lived in comfort but was not keen to flaunt it.

A simple two up two down building stood before me and I looked up with a sudden glint of excitement but also fear in my eyes…

Carmen turned to face me, she could see the indecision in my eyes.

I tried telling myself that it was just as house and that whatever happened from herein was what I had secretly hoped as it would answer the remainder of my questions and so I put the fears behind me and with a confident stride took her hand again.

She turned to look at me….

“Are you ready?”
