"Orielle, Dalton's here!" my Mom called from downstairs. "Coming!" I yelled back. I finished lacing up my black Converse and leaped down the steps. "You guys have fun, bye!" My mom said as she ushered us out the door. Gee, thanks, Mom. She shut the door and I looked at Dalton. "What are we gonna do tonight?" I asked my best friend. He smiled and pulled out two pieces of paper from his pocket. I raised an eyebrow and he handed me one. I read the printed words. Oh my gosh! They were Blue October concert tickets! "Sound good?" He asked me. I threw my arms around Dalton and he spun me around. "Oh my gosh Dalton! I could kiss you right-" I started to say, but then I realized how awkward that was and stopped. Awkward silence.
"Well, we should go." Dalton said and took my hand. We walked down to his car and I got into the passenger seat. "I can't believe this, Rapattoni!" I exclaimed. "I'm glad," he replied. We talked and talked for the next hour as we drove to the World Arena. When we got there, we were both losing our minds of excitement. The guards stamped our tickets, marking our admission and we found our seats. "I can't believe I'm literally at a literal concert of Blue October!" I said. "Ditto," Dalton replied.
All of a sudden, the lights dimmed and the band members walked onto the stage. The crowd went crazy. The band began to perform Into the Ocean. Next, they did Sway. Dalton and I were singing along to every song.
Then they started Calling You. During the music break, Justin started talking. "I'd like to thank everyone for coming out here tonight. I also had a special request from a cool dude by the name of Dalton." He said. I immediately looked at my best friend. He looked nervous. "Dalton, come on up here please." Since we were 2nd row, it didn't take Dalton any time at all. For whatever reason, he looked insanely nervous. Justin handed him the mic.
"Well, hey guys. Tonight I'm here with my best friend, Orielle Jackson." My cheeks flushed. "She means the world to me, and I think the stock market would crash and zombies would crawl out of the sewers if she didn't exist," he continued. The crowd laughed, and some said "Awww!" "But anyways, Orielle and I have been best friends for a long time now, and we've gone through so much together. I need her to get through each day." More heart melts from the crowd. "So, I was wondering if this beautiful, amazing, lovely girl would do me the honors of being my girlfriend." Dalton finished. Tears were steaming down my cheeks. The audience let out a standing ovation. Dalton left the stage, and came over to me. "Dalton, of course!" I cried and tackled him in a hug. I went in to kiss his cheek, but he turned. My lips landed right on his.
