The Game

Willa's POV:

I walked through the hallways excited for the day to come. The first basketball game of the season was tonight. I play point guard on the girls varsity basketball team at Silverton High and I'm the team captain. I've been in love with the sport since I was six years old.

I walked into my AP chemistry class and saw my best friend, Taylor, in her favorite blue stitch shirt. "Hey Taylor!" I greeted as I walked in.

"Hey Willa, are you ready for your game tonight?" Taylor questioned as I sat down in my seat next to her.

"I am so excited for the game tonight, the team is really good this year!" I replied right before the teacher walked in and started the class. The school day slowly dragged on and, after what felt like a lifetime, the final bell rang, signaling the end of school.

We are all tied up in the fourth quarter. The score is 48 - 48, but the whole team is not giving up yet. The other team stole the ball and made a layup, which scored them two points and put them ahead of us.

The time was running short. We only had a twenty seconds left and the other team was still two points ahead. My team got the ball and passed it to me. I ran down the court.
5, 4, 3, 2, 1..... I launched the ball from half court towards the goal.

I heard the referee blow his whistle and the crowd go wild as I saw the ball go in the basket. It went in! Was all I could think at that moment. We beat the other team by one in the last second of the game!

Then everything started fading away as I heard an annoying beeping sound in the background. I recognized the beeping sound as my alarm clock and I was awoken from my unobtainable dream.

"I should have know it was a dream, it would be the only way I'd ever be able to see myself doing that," I thought to myself as I pet my service dog, "but I will never give up on my dreams even though they may be hard to achieve."

I know that it is really short but I wanted to start writing more because I have been having trouble thinking of ideas for my other story. I just wanted something to do to get the creativity flowing again. Thank you so much for reading and if you have 7 words you would like me to try and put in a story just comment!
