Jimin's heart was pounding. This was the day he was gonna do it.
It's his third year in college, so it's about time. Now, he's eating dinner with his family. His confession could have so many different reactions from his parents, but he only hoped it would end as a positive one.
"Eomma, Appa..." he starts, swallowing his food.
His parents hum simultaneously, chewing their food.
"Um, I'm not quite sure how to word this," he chuckles nervously and lies his fork down, patting his mouth with a napkin elegantly.
"Jiminie, what is it?" his mother asks curiously, setting her fork down, too. She could feel the tension in the room.
"Guys..." his voice wavers. "I'm gay."
His parents sit in silence. Jimin gulps. That's... not good.
His mother sinks into her seat sympathetically. His father stands and throws his napkin at the table harshly.
"What do you mean? Gay? Not my son. Get out."
Those words stung Jimin, like an arrow of dishonor straight through his poor little heart. His heart shatters, or so it feels.
"A-appa... leave? You want me to-"
"I said get out! You're not my son! Find somewhere else to live!"
Jimin's mouth gapes slightly, but he closes it quietly. He stands and heads to the door, absolutely devastated.
He bawls the moment he is out the door. He can scarcely speak properly when he calls his best friend, Taehyung.
"TaeTae.. I told them. They kicked me out. They..." he sobs.
"Jimin, I'm coming to get you. Stay right there, I'm on my way right now. I'll be there ASAP."
"They disowned me..."
"Fuck them. My parents are hella open-minded. You can stay with us."
Not even 5 minutes later, Taehyung has sped his way into Jimin's driveway.
Jimin is still sobbing on his parent's porch when Taehyung comes over to him, and it hurts his heart to see his best friend like this. "Hey," he whispers softly, "it's okay. I'm here now."
Jimin can hardly stand, his body shakes so hard when he cries. In turn, Tae picks him up, bridal style, and carries him to his car.
Tae knows his soft, deep, whispering always soothes Jimin when he's having a hard time, so he uses it to his advantage. "Jiminie," he breathes, approaching his car. The older boy only sniffles in acknowledgement. "I will get some of your stuff now. We can come back for the rest of it later."
Almost as if he was settling a newborn into a crib for a nap, he lies Jimin down gently in the back seat of his car while he heads back to the home.
He knocks politely, though his intentions are completely the opposite.
"Listen here, you sack of shit," Tae starts yelling the moment Jimin's father answers the door. "Jimin can't even stand because you hurt him so bad. You can't pull your head out of your ass long enough to accept your son for what makes him happy? You deserve to rot in hell. You aren't in charge of his life, and this was a very asshole thing to do."
Jimin's parents are speechless.
Taehyung marches upstairs and grabs as much stuff as his arms can carry, and politely bids farewell to his best friend's parents as he leaves, like he didn't just scream his lungs out at them.
He comes back to the car and sets Jimin's stuff in the passenger seat. "Jimi-"
He turns around to find Jimin asleep with his entire face puffy and swollen. He looks so ethereal in Taehyung's eyes. Like a perfect, peacefully sleeping statue. He reaches back and very gently wipes his thumb over Jimin's cheek.
His beautiful hazel eyes flutter open just long enough to capture Taehyung's thumb running over his cheek. "TaeTae, what are you doing?" he mumbles with sleep evident in his voice.
"You had a tear on your cheek," Taehyung saves nonchalantly with a smile. Jimin nods off again and Taehyung makes his way to his house.
