Laughter could be heard all over the park. The yearly carnival was finally here. Children and adults alike were dressed for the happy occasion. In the middle of them all stood a boy, no older than sixteen, looking very confused. He had a piece of paper in his hands and in further inspection looked lost. Scratching his blond curly hair, he decided he had to ask for directions. The boy approached the very first person he saw, which was a man dressed in a tuxedo (much like himself) with a little blond boy dressed as a sailor.
- "Excuse me, sir..." -
- "Yes?" -
The man answered.
- "Do you know where the palazzo is? They mentioned that is around here but I haven't seen an extravagant building anywhere." -
The older man smiled.
- "I'm actually heading there myself, want to join us?" -
The boy gleamed, thanking the gods for meeting this man.
- "Thank you very much. I'm Giovanni and you are?" -
- "Edward. Edward Volpe and this is my son Lauro.' –
The boy next to Edward then smiled. His blue eyes contrasted very well with his blond almost white hair. As he smiled, Giovanni could see little fangs peeking out. They started walking towards their destination, making small talk along the way. Finally they reached the building. Giovanni bid his goodbyes to Edward and his son before he went his separate way. As Giovanni entered the palazzo, everything was actually sparkling. The floor was squeaky clean, the ceiling had diamond chandeliers, and everyone wore such expensive clothes. Well Giovanni can't complained since he wore one himself. Giovanni looked around and saw a bar nearby so he went there. The blond sat down between two women who were drinking some expensive wine like Amontillado or Medoc.
After a couple of minutes, he was actually getting bored. If only his parents were here. You see Giovanni's parents died not too long ago along with a couple of their friends. Shot to death. No evidence left behind. That's why he is going to a new country to start a new life. No war, no death. Only peace. While lost in thought, Giovanni felt someone poking him. Looking behind, he saw a girl shorter than him. She had brown puffy hair and her hazel eyes were glaring at him.
- "Giovanni there you are! I was looking everywhere in Sicily for you!" -
- "Sorry Alma, I had some things to do."-
Alma rolled her eyes, not trusting what Giovanni just said. Alma Barella is Giovanni's childhood friend since forever. Her family has always been close to them. The girl took a seat beside him and ordered some drinks. It's then that he noticed that the women were gone.
- "I know that look; you were off in your own little world weren't you?" -
Giovanni embarrass nodded. This girl knew him so well.
- "And you didn't notice you were sitting next to Lady Fortunato?" -
- "WHAT?!?!"-
Giovanni started to frankly look around. Lady Fortunato was one of the most beautiful and influential people in all Sicily! He was so busy moping around he didn't notice. Alma patted his back, comforting him. Then the brunette took is hand and looked him in the eyes.
- "Are you sure you're not going to regret moving away?"-
Giovanni smiled sadly and shocked his head.
- "I don't think so but-" -
Suddenly the duo heard a cry. More specifically a child's cry. Giovanni looked around for the source when his eyes landed on a little blond boy being consulted by a black haired man. The curly haired boy recognized the little one.
