The Dark Staircase

On the Inside

Ring, ring, ring went the fire alarm. It was winter time. Why would the fire alarm ring? It is too cold to stand outside, you think to yourself, as the kids scurry out of the school. From a distance, you can hear someone call your name. It was Taela. She was with Emily, carrying a bottle of champagne. The sun is burning hot on your back as you wait with many other students on the basketball court, You take a big gulp of the bottle of champagne.

You close your eyes and you are back in the school. How is this possible? You were just outside you thought, as you stood on the staircase planning how to get yourself back out of the building. A man walks through the hallway points a gun at a hostage back. You duck quickly while he turns his head towards your direction. You quietly rush to the door in front of you but notice another man with a gun opening the door. You crouch down hoping he does not see you so you can exit through that door.

A few seconds pass, you rush to the door opening it and notice you are in front of the office. You run past the library, noticing a man with a gun in front of you. You quickly turn and run in the other direction as he chases after you. You head towards the vocal room, knowing there was an exit near the staircase. You make it to the vocal room. Frantically running through the room you realize there is no exit. It is too late! The man catches up to you.

You run to hide under the sofa noticing Olivia is there hiding. The man walks throughout the room vigorously. He finds you under the sofa and grabs you by the shoulder but you overpower him and push him to the ground and run towards the door. Olivia come on! Why are you running so slow and you say you're an athlete! You shout from across the room. You make it next door to the vocal room with Olivia. You open the door and start to run down the dark basement stairs. Forgetting to turn on the light, you try to walk back up the stairs but you are too late because Olivia was right behind you. You can hear the man viciously trying to kick down the door. Down the dark basement, you go.
