wendy yawned as her physics teacher droned on about the topic they were learning about, which she was too uninterested in to pay attention. she struggled to keep her eyes open, knowing that if she fell asleep, everyone would notice. instead, she averted her attention to the back of the class, where her friend yuna was sitting beside irene.
yuna smiled at her, but wendy was watching irene, who was busying herself in what looked like writing notes to her friends. it was apparent that she wasn't listening, but nobody dared tell her to pay attention. wendy watched as she doodled on a card absentmindedly before looking around. she made eye contact with wendy for a second and then got up to hand the card over to someone.
to wendy's surprise, irene passed her two friends, sooyeong and seulgi to give the card to yeri, a short, quiet, young girl who sat in front of wendy. yeri looked taken aback as well, but she unfolded the card and skimmed it over. wendy knew what it must've meant.
yeri was chosen for the sisterhood.
and not wendy.
