“Kathryn! There you are! I’ve been looking all over for you!” said Eric, while running up to my locker.

“I was at my locker all this time! Why, what happened?” I said while getting my stuff out.

“Aren’t you coming to practice with us?” asked Eric.

“Oh, I forgot about that! I’ll be there in just a minute.” I replied.

Eric is one of my very good mates. I’ve been practicing with him and his sister; Gail, for ages. We’re always together at lunchtimes in the Music Studio composing new songs and pieces of music. We’re like a team.

I was walking along the corridor, heading to the Music Studio, when I suddenly bumped into someone.  Nothing happened, so that was good. I looked up, and I saw Daniel Padilla standing right in front of me.  He’s the school’s most popular guy, and every girl fancies him; including me.  I don’t just fancy him, I love him. When I look at him, I feel shivers down my spine, and butterflies all over my stomach. I can’t help liking him. He has a girlfriend though; Sharlene. Sharlene is the most popular girl in the school. She attracts lots of boys, and she treats them like her slaves. I can’t believe Daniel would go out with such a person.

“Sorry, are you alright?” I heard Daniel say.

“Y-y-yes.” I managed to answer.

“Good.” He replied back, giving me one of his cutest ever smiles.

I started to move on, heading to the Music Studio with a bright pink face. I took a deep breath before opening the door, and I tried to avoid eye contact with Eric or Gail. When I blush, I get really nervous for some reason.

“Kath? Are you okay?” asked Gail.

“Mhm.” I answered, looking away.

There was a small silence.

“So erm, did you guys make up some lyrics for the chorus yet?” I asked while raising my eyebrows.

“We can’t do it without you. You’re the singer.”  Eric said with a smile.

I started to look at them now, not feeling my cheeks burn anymore.

“Erm, yes, right!” I said while standing up and grabbing a microphone.

Eric started playing the piano, and Gail was strumming her acoustic guitar as I sang along. I was listening carefully for the music, trying to work out some lyrics that would fit in. It’s very hard composing songs, especially when you’ve just got out of a very embarrassing situation. I always dreamt of going to prom with Daniel. Prom is in 1 week, and I still don’t have a partner. I sometimes wish Sharlene just dumped Daniel, and then I could maybe ask him to Prom? Or are guys supposed to do that? Ugh, I don’t know. Daniel would never ask me to Prom.

“Ok, Kath, we’ve got to try out for tomorrow, now it’s nearly time for last lesson.” I heard Gail say.

“Yep, I’ll be here at the same time tomorrow.” I answered.
