I couldn't let him know I had the key. Hell, I couldn't let anyone who was coming over know I had it, which was why it was so important that I play it as safe as I could. But, thankfully, I knew Joseph. I knew his routine, I knew when he would need the master key, I knew when I could sneak away from him after he was plastered from the red wine, or when he was zoned out on something important, or when he went out for his smoke breaks.
I knew he kept a spare master key in his office, which was what I would need in order to return Joseph's original copy to him without him realizing it was gone. I just hoped he wouldn't decide to shy away from his normal routine and do something that'll show his key was missing.
And if all went according to plan? Well... I would think more about it once I got through the first step. No sense in planning ahead on something you aren't sure will happen. Especially something that could either potentially save my life, or end it if I wasn't careful.
"... Sienna? Sienna! Are you even listening to a goddamn thing I've said?"
Joseph's angry tone snaps me back to reality, and before he can roughen me up again I plaster on a large smile and nod my head. "Of course I have. You wanted filet mignon, medium rare, with homemade potatoes Au gratin, a homemade Caesar salad as an appetizer, freshly made rolls, and asparagus. You wanted the Chateau Mouton-Rothschild to drink with it, and creme brulee for dessert. You always told me 'the best of our friends must love our hospitality, and fear the expenses that come with it.'"
He seemed pleased that I remembered exactly what he wanted for dinner and tilted my head up to face him. "Very good. And do you know why I always say that?"
"Because you want people to know you're a very powerful and influential man," I say, my voice barely above a whisper.
Joseph nods curtly but doesn't release his grip. "And?" He prompts, his fingers digging into my chin.
"And so I know that no one, no friends, no family, no members of law enforcement, will save me, because money talks, and they already think I'm crazy anyways..."
"That's right," he murmurs, stroking the side of my face lovingly with his free hand as he pulls me in close and kisses me slowly, deliberately. "Money talks," Joseph continues after we pull away. "And you're crazy, remember? You're mine, Sienna, and no one is going to take you away from me. You understand, don't you? I do all these things for you because I love you, and I don't want to share you with anyone else. But I expect you to obey and listen to me in return. I expect you to follow the rules, because if you don't, I have to hurt you, and I don't want to do that, baby. You know that, don't you?"
"Yes," I whimper, and I can't help but stiffen as he presses against me, groping me with hands that were soft and should be gentle, but were rough and cold.
"Good," he growls. I let his hands scorch my body, let him open up my blouse and yank my jeans down, let him have his way as he pushed me down onto the ground, despite all the doctor's warnings about further damage should we have sex before that three week period. But what Joseph wanted, he took, and there was no stopping him. I let my mind drift away, let my body go numb as he pushed and thrust and groaned and ripped through me. I felt the blood, felt the chaffing on the inside of my thighs, but my brain couldn't register it. I kept my eyes on the ceiling above Joseph's head and stared into the bright, florescent lights, just waiting for it to be over.
His hand wrapped around my throat and squeezed, cutting off my air as he finished.
"Fuck," he rasped as he pulled off me, "we haven't fucked in so long, Sienna.I couldn't help myself, though. When you look all roughed up like that? And then have you actually listen to me after?" Joseph sighs and buckles his belt. "You brought this on you, Sienna. Now get dinner started and change your outfit. Try to make an effort to look pretty, will you? And for God's sake, Sienna, put on some fucking makeup to cover up those bruises and marks!"
