The debtors will be ghosts while Cuphead, Mugman and the little characters, (the strawberry boy, the fish girl, the coin man, Porkgrind, Elder Kettle, etc.) Are mortal.
Laney Dice, King Dice, the Devil, and all other casino residents are all ghosts, since both Laney and her father have contracts and are in presence of the Devil.
When/If you were to succeed on retrieving the soul contracts from all bosses, including Laney, and release them all of Blind Spector's and Devil's debt, then they will all revert back to their mortal selves.
