"I'm just tryna find my way back home"
The airport looked more like a shopping mall than anything Adéle had expected. The tiles under her feet gleamed white and everywhere were people milling around and chatter was to be heard. There were plasma screens of arrival and departure times on the wall of the airport. People were lined up at the check in desk with suitcases and baggage. There was a sculpture of a dragon with water cascading from it's mouth and flowing down into the barrier which kept the water in place. In the background soft classical music played in french, as much as she wanted the volume to be raised the volume of the chatter increased. In the arrivals lounge there was a curious mixture of bored and excited people. Some looked like they were waiting for a bus, others like they were children waiting for Santa Claus himself to come out and bring cookies. Some lounged on the low comfy chairs and others bounced on their toes. She was the individual who sat on the comfy chairs with her headphones in whilst she read her book that she was so fascinated with, distracting her from anything that was going to ocurr.
The tannoy allocated Adéle to which terminal she should go to, whilst she waited at the gate ready for her departure. Adéle held her boarding pass and passport in one hand, and hand luggage in the other. One and a half hour goes by slowly, then a voice from the speakers indicates to Adéle it was now time to get onto the plane. Although she never liked planes, not for having a fear but the boredom of it, she knew it was the easiest option and thus here she was now heading to the plane as she walked through the tunnel that led to the entrance of the plane.
As she gets greeted by air hostesses, she nearly drops her passport but luckily she does not. Once she reaches her chair which is situated in the middle of the plane, she shoved her things away and sits down in her assigned seat next to the window. The usual routine of the air hostesses were done, and that she realised it was now time to say goodbye to France for now and hello to London.
As Adéle look out the window, people around her seemed to be engaged in their own conversations whilst she engaged herself in a magazine that was in the pocket in front her. She sat beside elderly couple who smiled at her which she returned not wanting to be seen as a rude individual, she shoved her headphones in and allowed her music to overlap any noise that was made on the plane.
She looked outside after being bored from the magazine, to be found there was fragments of cloud scatter the ocean, as if it was painted by an artistic hand - delicate inflections of the brush spreading white over blue so delicately. The clouds outside move constantly, flowing as sheets hundreds of feet apart, yet giving the appearance of one dense layer from the beautiful land of France below.
The flight was only approximately two hours and thirty five minutes, however to Adéle it seemed as if it was longer. She always enjoyed the experience but today, she wanted to be in her bed or at work, suprisingly. She purchased the expensive snacks from the plane and a drink, before a few minutes later the voice from the speakers allowing her to have knowledge of reaching the London Gatwick Airport soon.
The plane landed to the ground before every passenger got up to grab their belongings and go, thus Adéle stayed in her seat waiting for the rush to shift outside. After it quietened she grabbed her things before walking out the doors, thanking the air hostesses. She walked through the tunnel with her backpack on, as she walked to the luggage belts. A black suitcase with orange outlines was not to be found, which she tapped her right foot on the floor as she waited for it as she countined to wait for it to come out. Adéle finds it and quickly reaches over and grabs it before rushing out there, as a small group of people were following behind her with their luggage.
