The sun rained down soft white rays of light through the cherry blossom casting a pinkish hue across the field. Petals from the tree billowed and twirled in a soft tornado like fashion amongst four-foot rushes in the early august air. The rushes were tall enough to conceal someone if they sat amongst them.
So someone was.A young girl. Her hair was lose and sashayed down her slight back in soft chestnut waves to the base of her spine. She sat with her head tilted upward towards the sun and the wind washed in her face. A few stray petals skimmed the freckles on her makeup-less cheeks like they were landing pads. A sigh of content passed her lips. Her small hands were folded neatly in her lap, resting against her denim cut off shorts. The thin oversized grey knitted sweater hung off her pixie like frame. To anyone else she'd look like a normal fifteen year old girl spending her days in the sun. But they would all forget the obvious factor that was staring them in the face. The very crucial factor. A young teenager sat in a field... Alone.
You may be thinking maybe she likes it. Maybe she does. Maybe she likes not having friends. But then she looked at the gate at the sound of voices, a hopeful glint in her blue eyes that soon vanished when she realised it's just cyclists. So she turned back to the tree. Where birds were chipperly jabbering away and swooping free. A ghost of a smile tickled her lips as she watched them. Silently wishing she could join them and fly away with someone she loves.
