"and that's how soulmate tattoos work." everybody started closing their textbooks and were fixing their things. "class dismissed. you may now go home." their history professor, tiffany hwang, told her students as she fixed her lecture materials.

"well that was a long-ass lecture." bambam told his friend, jaehyun while they were walking to the spot where they put all of the classroom's cleaning materials.

"that scientist lee so man surely knows how to make the world cheesy and also complicated, tss." jaehyun complained as he started grabbing the cleaning materials as he was one of the assigned students that will clean this week. "tell me about it." dokyeom, suddenly appeared while sweeping the floor.

their classmates were about to go out and they were about to mop the floor when the speakers started buzzing, meaning there was an announcement to be made.

they all immediately stopped to listen to the announcement.

*static* good afternoon, my dear students. the principal, kwon jiyong, started. well, it's actually a bad afternoon for us all because one of our mathematics teachers, yang yoseob, has passed away due to the disappearance of his soulmate tattoo.

everyone started gasping in shock, some were whispering stuff to one another and others were tearing up.

any voluntary amount can be donated to show our condolences to the family of mr. yang. tomorrow, kim yerim and kim saeron will be the ones who will roam around the school and collect your donations. that's all for today, you can all go home now. *static static*

"well, that was sudden." yugyeom muttered. "i can't believe mr. yang is gone now."

"yeah, me too." minghao just shooked his head and then continued cleaning.

"the world is so cruel, i can't." jungkook tsk tsk tsk-ed.

"who will teach us math tomorrow, then?" jaehyun asked but no one answered him. he just shook his head and shrugged it off. then they continued to clean in silence because of the shock they are feeling.

[ time skip ]

"i'll go ahead! i'll be meeting taehyung hyung after this so... bye!" jungkook waved to his group of friends as he ran. they waved back.

"pssh, i feel bitter. kook found his soulmate but i haven't." mingyu shook his head and then looked at his soulmate tattoo which is a heart-shaped leaf, earning laughs from his bestfriends.

they parted ways when they arrived at the front gate. "bye see you tomorrow!" dokyeom looked at his friends and then waved. "bye!" they all said in unison.

jaehyun rode the bus since it would be faster that way. due to his tiredness, he fell asleep.

while he was sleeping, his wrist felt itchy. "hmm~" he scrunched his nose and then scratched his wrist, who was now glowing inside the sleeve of his favorite jacket.

little did he know that the bus passed by one of the most important persons in his life. you make a wild guess.

"taeyong-ah!" mr. lee ran towards taeyong. taeyong immediately fixed himself and then bowed to his adviser. "hello sir. is there something wrong?" he looked at his teacher with worried eyes.

"well, you always forget what i always say to you huh." mr. lee said sassily. "oh! d-donghae hyung." donghae smiled at his cousin. "there, that's better than sir." he pat his cousin's back.

"hyung! why are you making me call you hyung while we are inside the campus!" taeyong whisper-shouted. "because i want you to be comfortable." he then laughed.

"ah! before i forget, yong, i have some news for you." donghae said while they were walking towards his car.

"what?" taeyong looked at the older male.

"you were chosen to join the national science contest next month, isn't that great?" taeyong's eyes lit up and then he smiled. "it is great! really great!" they high-fived and then laughed.

"when will you guys pull us out of the class to study?" taeyong asked as they reached donghae's car. "maybe next week." taeyong nodded as an answer. "ahh."

"i'll get going now, see you next week, yong saeng!" donghae waved. "ne hyung!" he waved back at his hyung.

as soon as the car started, he began walking away.

taeyong was shivering while he was walking. it was really cold since it was winter. aish! why is it so cold! he mentally told himself.

he soon decided to go to the coffee shop that was next to his apartment to get himself energized and heated up because of the cold weather.

when he reached the coffee shop and was going to go inside, his wrist suddenly lit up.

"what the—" he looked at it curiously. "my tattoo was— oh my god." he looked around as his tattoo stopped glowing.

"my soulmate was at that bus?" he asked himself and then pointed at the bus that was slowly fading away from the boy's sight. he shrugged it off and then entered the coffee shop.
