requested or not requestedfor as long as i could remember, there has always been one inside joke that kept itself in my day to day life with my best friend, richie. sure, there were many inside jokes that we've had through the years but there was one that stuck with us.
one that terrorized the losers everytime we laughed about it as they rolled their eyes constantly upon hearing us say it.
let me help you understand.
exhibit A:
the quarry was the best place for the losers to be at during a warm summer day. richie and i sitting against a tree, looking through the yearbook as we laughed at certain students.
all the losers were in the water, beverly coming late and stripping in front of us.
"WOAH, WOAH, WOAH!" we both screamed in disgust.
"KEEP IT PG, MARSH!" we laughed as she flipped us off and jumped into the water, joining the other losers. we high fived each other in complete content in our joke, showing no signs of laughter ending.
exhibit B:
richie and i sat on a bench in the park, eating our ice cream and laughing at what stupid joke he came up with.
"hey, y/n," he nudged me and made me look in the direction of two adults making out.
"jesus christ, they're really going at it." we laughed as they hadn't stopped.
"HEY, OLDIES! KEEP IT PG IN PUBLIC!" i screamed over to them. they looked at us in disgust, rolling their eyes as they stood up and walked away.
there really was never a dull moment with him as the joke made itself apparent everyday. somehow, it never got old.
one night, richie decided to come over to hang out.
we sat next to each other as he told me a funny story about the stupid movie he watched recently. i listened as my lips wrapped around a cherry lollipop he brought me.
our bodies were so close to each other, his arm wrapped around me, my face inches from his. a soft blanket was draped over both our bodies, stopping at our chests as we sat up, but still leaning on the pillows that were against my headboard.
i admired his freckles and the cluster of curls that carelessly slumped themselves on his head. he passionately continued talking as my eyes made a path through each of his freckles.
"babygirl?" richie snapped me out of my thoughts. he had the habit of calling me names like that after i was able to act like his girlfriend when scaring away his one night stands from his home.
"yes, richie?" i asked, hoping he didn't notice. i looked down to hide the blush that painted my cheeks. he chuckled, "you're doing the thing that you know i love." he hums as he puts his finger under my chin, making me look up at him.
this had been happening for awhile. we would both act like this couple when we were still just best friends. we both know that we want more than a friendship.
"i just can't help it," i whisper under my breath as i admire his eyes under his round glasses.
i twirl my lollipop around my index finger and my thumb, biting my lip. we both slowly lean in, looking intently at each other's lips.
then it happens, we kiss slowly. our mouths molding together softly. he hums in content as i climb over his lap. we both pull away for air as he giggles silently.
i unbuttoned my shirt, holding the lollipop with my mouth as i work on the buttons.
"what happened to keeping it pg, princess?" he took the lollipop and threw it into the trash can next to the bed. he then wrapped his arms around my waist.
"let's do pg-13 tonight, baby." i smirked.
