Wooseok crouched around a corner and took deep breaths trying to calm himself down. He couldn't believe his eyes. He coughed and two flower petals came out. He threw them away and put his head on his knees. He sighed and tried to hold back tears. He sat up again and looked around him. No one was around him. He text Jinho asking for help and left his location on. He sat there and waited while trying (and failing) to hold back tears. He heard footsteps come around the corner and got excited.
Two boys approached Wooseok, black hoodies and face masks on both of them. The stood in front of Wooseok, looked at each other and nodded. The taller of the two grabbed Wooseok's arm and started pulling him, the other had a pocket knife out. Wooseok tried to pull away but these guys were super strong. The pushed Wooseok down, the boy holding the knife to his throat. He winced in pain and hoped Jinho got his message.
"HEY!" Someone shouted. The boy standing up looked over. He whispered something in another language to the boy with the knife and he stood up. Leaving Wooseok there in the ground. He sat up and saw the boys ganging up on Jinho. The one with the knife launched at Jinho. He dodged and luckily slid through the smaller one's legs. The one with the knife pulled down his mask and the other's hood fell down with he turned around.
"Wait, Justin?? ChengCheng?!?"
"Oh shit." The taller one said. Jinho backed away from the two over to Wooseok. "Justin" looked at "ChengCheng" and the two scrambled when they saw Jinho take out his phone. He stared at the corner with disgust, before turning around in a flash.
"Are you ok? You said you needed help-"
"I have something to confess."
"Wait wait wait hold on. So you're telling me you didn't just randomly find flowers in the toilet. You threw them up?"
Wooseok nodded and Jinho continued. The two boys had walked to a convenience store and got some food and drinks.
"And you saw your crush with his best friend kissing?"
"Cheek kiss."
"Oh, yes. But you saw your crush cheek kiss his best friend?"
"Yea."
"Aww that sucks. I don't know what that must feel like. I've only recently gotten out of a relationship and haven't had the chance to like anyone else."
"What happened between you two? If you don't mind sharing."
"No no, it's ok. I guess she wasn't my ideal type. If I'm making sense."
"Yes I understand. It's just annoying with Yuto because I'm convinced we're soulmates. And this is the first time the flowers have-" Wooseok coughed and a petal flew off in the wind. "Sorry. The first time these flowers have started appearing. So I don't know if only recently Yuto's started liking Yan An or someone else."
Jinho nodded and took a bite of his tteokbokki. Wooseok opened his mouth, and Jinho shoved a rice cake into his mouth. Wooseok hadn't realised how spicy it was, and he downed a whole bottle of water in under a minute.
"Jesus Christ!" Jinho giggled, trying not to choke on his food as he already had earlier.
"Sorry, I'm not used to super spicy food. I usually eat what Yuto eats, and he can't eat spicy food or he'll get an allergic reaction." Wooseok swallowed a lump of rice cake and coughed to clear his throat, sending blue petals floating in the wind. Jinho grabs one and looks at it closely. He shrugs and lets it blow off in the wind. "What's up?"
"Nothing. Just wanted to look at the flowers. That's all." He smiled again, and Wooseok felt his face redden. "You always do that!!"
"Do what?"
"Get embarrassed when I do anything! Is there something wrong with me?"
"W-what? N-no. Of course not. It's just..."
"Jinho! Where the hell have you been?"
Jinho turned his head and faced a tall boy with messy brown hair. He was bright red and was sweating slightly.
"You said you were coming back as soon as I messaged you. This is not back!"
"Hongseok, I'm sorry-"
"There's no sorrys here, Jo Jinho. Do you want to lose your job?" Hongseok eyed across the table at Wooseok. "And instead of doing your job you're on a date?!? Disgraceful. You have one more chance to get your ass back to the-"
"Hongseok, we're not on a date. He's a photographer too, and we're discussing locations on where to take pictures for different occasions, and for nice sceneries and stuff." Jinho was a great liar, Wooseok noticed. Hongseok sighed and facepalmed.
"Ok, but I swear on my life, if you don't have this report in by next Friday we're screwed." He pointed at Jinho and Wooseok awkwardly became redder and redder.
"Don't worry, it'll be done by then. Ok, bye, thanks." Jinho turned around and put his head on the table.
"...d'you wanna go look at some nice scenic locations? I know a few I think would be classified as "scenic"." Wooseok added, and Jinho sat up and nodded. The two got up and left the convenience store, and walked towards some of Wooseok's favourite locations in town. He ignored the messages and missed calls from Yuto and Yan An. He text his mom to say he'd be home a little later than usual as he was with friends.
"Wooseok, can I tell you something?" Jinho quietly asked as they passed a small beach.
"Go ahead."
"I find it ironic that Yuto's flowers that are growing in you are the flowers that represent my photography business."
"Really?"
"Yeah; Asagao. Japanese "Morning Glory". It's a beautiful plant, I see why Yuto likes them. They're native to Japan, and, ironically, "Asagao" directly translates to "brief love". "
"Wait, really?" Jinho nodded. "Wow, if that's not perfect, I don't know what is. Also, you seem know a lot about flowers. I guess you'd have to be cause you're a photographer." Wooseok got embarrassed and covered his face with his hand. Jinho smiled as they approached a building.
"Why are we here?"
"I want to show you something. But, is there anywhere we can go to pass time until 8 o clock?" Wooseok awkwardly asked.
"8?! Jesus Christ that's late!"
"If you wanna see my favourite scenic location you have to trust me, ok?" Jinho nodded, and the two boys made off to another location Jinho wanted to go.
Wooseok hadn't realised it, but he was truly in love with Jinho, even if he did just meet him a few hours ago.
Jinho hadn't realised it either, but when he started to get to know Wooseok, he realised how much the two have in common. He found it as a pure coincidence.
