The cannon booms several times, announcing the deaths of eleven tributes. As I look at May, she tightly holds my hand. We silently stare at each other.

May looks away. "We better get going. The Careers know we're here, so they can come for us."

"I'll put out the fire." I grab my backpack, stuffing it with food and a first aid kit. May grabs a full quiver from the left side of the Cornucopia and I pick up my sword.

"We should take the weapons, Louis." May says.

I shake my head. "We can't carry them all. Let's just take the bows, knifes, swords and tridents. They're the most useful ones."

I close my eyes and a small tear slips. May lifts my chin, but I stick my tongue out and smile.

She smiles as well. "Let's leave."

We climb down and head into the woods. In seconds, the sun comes up into the blue sky. Something about the arena has changed. It's hotter than yesterday. We cut through some vines and end up in a desert!

What a strange day. First, we're thrown into the arena to kill other tributes, then we end up in a dessert to starve to death? That's just great.

A few feet where we started the walk, there's a girl with an axe sitting besides the oasis. We get closer to her but notice she's hurt, so we stand back a little. I grab my knife without her noticing.

"Need some help with that?" I say.

She looks back, slowly standing up. She nods with doubt. "If it's not mutch of a problem..."

"Let me see that. " May carefully leans towards the girl. I grab the axe from the ground and put it with the other weapons.

The girl has a cut in her leg, and May slowly cleanses it as I sit down. "What District are you from?"

"Eleven." she softly answers.

I raise my eyebrows. "I thought you were a Career."

"I am. My family's pretty rich, and I actually volunteered for this 1st Quarter Quell. And you guys?" she answers.

I shake my head. "We were reaped, but I did have a little training before. After all, my parents are both victors."

"Right... Louis Mellark, son of Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark. This arena seems to have a lot to do with them." she says.

"Well it's pretty similar to my moms description to her Quarter Quell...exept the fact that she escaped the games....." I scoff.

"Sorry, I didn't catch your name earlier." I softly ask.

She softly smiles. "My name is Emy Minna."

"Let's set up a camp for the night. The anthem will tell us of who has died." I beg, already feeling sleepy.

She takes an apple from her bag and with a knife she cuts a piece

"Well, I'm going to go to sleep. See you tomorrow, gals." I say while unzipping the sleeping bag.

I storm off to the tent and leave the girls outside talking, Maybe they will talk about boys. Oh, well, I hope they don't sneak on me. I slip into my sleeping bag and close my tired blue eyes. I can't stop thinking about my three brothers, mom and dad and even the woods. I just can't. The night is eternal. I check my clock for several times but its just doesn't seem right. It always says 1:00 a.m. Just at the same time I had gone to the tent. I slip out of my sleeping bag and head outside. I think that wasn't a good idea. The leader of the Careers is Terrance Aranden. He's really into killing people, and I'm sure that I'm next on his hit list. I can hear him sneaking on me. He wants to kill me. He will chop me to pieces. Then he'll bake me in a cake as if he were Titus.
