Sailing away

away from home

away from the place I know

Now as the sun is setting

The sea is splashing and wetting

Our boat.

This is where we are staying

It's definitely not a place for children to be playing

For it rains bombs every day.

After 30 days of sailing

We reached Gallipoli, and if we died our families would be wailing.

Our mission, as our captain said,

was to run as far as we could,

before the guns shot us and our lives were took.

For this is what we signed up for.

To fight in the war.
