"Babe, almost done?" You heard Otto yell.
"Yeah," you said, tugging a brush through one messy pigtail. You opened the door, involuntarily tugging down the crop top you were wearing to cover your stomach. "Voila! Transformation complete!" you exclaimed and jumped into a pose.
"Harley Quinn suits you," Otto laughed and kissed your forehead. "Thanks," you reached behind you for your bat and twirled it in your hand. "We should probably get to Awsten's before he ruptures a blood vessel," Otto sighed and flashed you a glimpse of the frantic texts Awsten had sent him over the course of the past hour.
You pull on a pair of heavy combat boots and slipped on a jacket. "That doesn't go with your costume," Otto teased. "Says the person who is actually wearing a substantial amount of clothing," you retort, tugging on your shirt again. Otto chuckles and grabs his keys off of the end table.
You step outside and shiver. Some people say that if you don't like the weather in Texas, wait a few minutes and it will change. You could see why. Seasons barely meant anything here. It would probably be hot tomorrow.

"Finally!" Awsten exclaimed, poking his purple head through the doorway. "I thought you guys would never get here." "Oh, calm down, you grape," you sigh, setting your jacket on the back of the couch. "That is very offensive," he grumbles, following you and Otto into the living room. "Where's Geoff?"
"Here," says a voice from behind you, and Geoff appeared from behind the kitchen wall. He walked into the living room, holding a bag of Doritos out to you. You shook your head, and he shook the bag at you persistently. "Awsten bought like seven bags, and I can't eat all of it myself." You gave in and took a few chips.
Otto threw his arm around your shoulders and turned to Awsten. "So, what's the plan for tonight?" Awsten smiled devilishly. "Well," he began. "As you can see, I am currently not wearing a costume." "Correct."
"So," he reached down to the floor and picked up a bulging Walmart bag that you hadn't seen coming in. "What is that?" you asked him, and his grin grew. If that was possible.
"Geoffrey?" he gestured grandly to Geoff. Geoff leaned against the wall and addressed you and Otto. "When me and Awsten went to Walmart earlier, he saw a gorilla costume and couldn't help himself."
Awsten frowned. "That was not what we rehearsed." Geoff laughed. "Go put it on, you grape." He smiled at you and Otto laughed. The poor kids you were handing out candy to might get a little more than they bargained for tonight.
