I'm a vampire? What Kole just said wasn't totally irrational, I definitely was something besides human, but how are vampires even real?

"Explain."

I sat back on the bed waiting for Kole to finally tell me what was going on.

"Yep, vampires are real. So are werewolves, but we don't need to worry about that right now. I'm a vampire too, obviously. That's how you came to be one."

Kole stopped talking and took the woman's other arm and bit her, drinking from her like I had. When he was done he took a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped the blood from his mouth. He hadn't quite got all of it, leaving a streak of red across his cheek.

"Vampires have always been a thing, we just try not to make our existence known to humans."

He walked over to a chair across the room and sat.

"Being a vampire has its perks. We're practically immortal. We can run, like really fast. We can heal ourselves. And we can manipulate humans, like what I had done to you earlier. You hadn't completed the transition yet, so I could still make you tell me your name, which is lovely by the way, Nova. But now I can't make you do anything which is a shame. I would have loved to asked you if you found me attractive."

Kole smirked at me. I just rolled my eyes. Of course I had to find this guy attractive. He just is, even if he's kind of an asshole.

"But there are some cons to being a vampire. A wood stake through the heart will kill you. You've got to feed on human blood to survive, although I don't mind that. And... vampire hunters and werewolves hunt vampires."

"So basically we just have to kill them before they kill us. Doesn't sound too bad."

"Wow, you're taking this well. Sounds like you're looking forward to killing."

I rolled my eyes at him, again.

"Let's just say I'm willing to do whatever I have to to save my own life."

"Good, that's exactly why I turned you. I need you, love. We've got to go though, the werewolves already know I'm in town."

Kole grabbed a couple bags from the floor and walked over to the door. I got out of the bed and walked over to him.

"What are we gonna do about the body on the ground?"

Kole looked back at body like he had forgotten about it.

"Oh, right. I'll call someone and have them clean it up."

He opened the door, moving out of the way to let me through.

"Ladies first, love."

Sighing, I walked out of the house and got into the passengers seat of the old Ford Mustang. Kole opened the trunk and threw his bags inside before getting into the car himself.

"This yours?"

I ran my fingers along the worn leather seats.

"Yep. Isn't she beautiful? Not as beautiful as you though, love."

I looked over at him and into his green eyes. Of all the people in the world, I was already falling in love with an arrogant vampire.
