Howdy everyone, this is a book I'll write in to share my theories about some media
Today's theory is from the web comic Home sweet Home by Youngchan Hwang, who created the great thriller comic "Bastard" which was a genius piece of art, you can read them at webtoon and other media, anyway let's beginThe universe of Home sweet Home is a fascinating one right from the beginning, small spoilers ahead, the story is about a boy called Hyun which has a history of self harm, for reasons yet to be given in the story, he loses his family in a car accident and from there things get from worse to terrible, he starts living alone and all when suddenly, while he was making plans of suicide, monsters appear all over the world and he is left unconscious after a nose bleed.
Anyway the reason why monsters appear is unclear other than just "they were once human" but things seem to go deeper than that, all the future monsters seen in the story like the guardian, the blonde chick and Hyun alike have 3 or 2 things in common, for first, all three characters seem to have some sort of self inflicted trauma or harm, except for the guardian but he's of little importance, then all three characters are given a weird juice like substance in a plastic bottle, this might be just speculation but it might be related, also all three characters seem to have a very big problem with stress and sleep deprivation, Hyun because he's a gamer and a suicidal bastard, the girl because she's an actress or sth and the guardian because...well he's in charge of the building
The symptoms appear suddenly and develop at different rates from person to person although we don't know fore sure how much were the guardian and the girl exposed to the symptoms or the cause. Anyway, the theory is that some sort of government experiment or bio weapon like a super virus was implemented in the commercial cycle of South Korea, we see glimpses of this in the car accident scene that killed Hyun's parents and sister, the driver of the truck had clear convulsions and nose bleeds but also a clear mutilated body for larger eyes and etc. Then we see the first official monster being the blonde chick that starts as a normal person but after the symptoms get worse becomes a hungry, strong and mutilated creature with the only sentient signs being the fact that she speaks although very loosely in shirt broken words like "hun....gry" we see this in other monsters, aside from this the monster receives a great boost in strength durability and apparently evolution or metamorphosis
The virus seems to act very quick and strikes with no mercy, but the people that became monsters still maintain some intelligence they are more than often mindless husks and walk aimlessly around except for those with a specific mind goal like the blonde girl's hunger making her want more and more food and the strong monster's, or muscle dude how he was called by the fans, appetite for protein and more muscle mass
It seams that the monsters develop different traits based on their previous mind set and addictions, they seem to have extremely high endurance and, although not really seen in action, a very powerful healing factor, a good example of this is the blind monster that Hyun encounters the most that at the beginning it has it's top part of his head that had the eyes cut clean and now being blind and later on developing a huge ear to hear it's victims, it has great endurance to almost anything but it seems that electricity knocked it out for a while
So the virus seems to help it's host by improving their physical capabilities but reducing their intelligence to a more primal state
The monsters appear to have a different consciousness and I think that this is shown the best in Hyuns struggle to maintain his humanity while the monster side of him tries to take over
We still need to figure out what exactly caused the monster apocalypse but the best speculation is either a virus or some sort of parasite
The comic is very concentrated on its action and the fact that the monsters seem unstoppable
This aspects also the characters are awesome and the comic is worth checking out as well as Bastard the other amazing creation of the amazing author Youngchan Hwang
I'm not sponsored or anything I just like the comics that this guy makes and I love webtoon anyway here is the d my theory I hope you enjoyed it and you can send me ideas for future theories in the comments belowSo, I was Mikey and I say a G'day to y'all and have a nice life
