CHAPTER 3

Jasper's POV

Jasper walked into the room "Hey I brought you food. I think it is mystery meat and banger." He waited for a response . and then realized that she was still gagged he put a hand toward her and she flinched away "wow!" said Jasper "you recover quicker than most. Can you see me?" She nodded "can I untie your gag for you." it was a statement rather than a question she let him untie her gag once it was off she tried to bite him. Amethyst growled at him when she missed. "Okay yeah I deserved that," said Jasper laughing. His laughter boomed through the walls of the small cell. They sent shivers down Amethysts spine and somehow calming her slightly. "You remind me of my little sister Keko, she had the same kind of fire in her like you." He said his voice full of remorse his eyes looked slightly different. The emotions he's showing changing them from the light purple to a darker one. It's weird how one can change emotions so quickly. "How long have I been down here?" Amethyst asked. "About two days. I was sent down here to inform you that your little brother has gone missing...."

Amethyst POV

"What?" Was the only thing Amethyst could choke out Jasper looked at her full of pity and something else? "I know you must be incredibly worried." Jasper said in a hushed tone "Of course I'm worried I've been taken to a strange place tortured and on top of all that pain my only family is missing." Amethyst says her voice slowly rising "what can I do to help!? I know what it feels like to lose someone you care about." Jasper said with caution. "Bring my brother back!" She says in a harsh tone. "I cannot." He whispered "Jasper!" A shrill Voice shouted

"I have to go!" said Jasper "Mistress Coral is calling me,"He says slowly turning to the door " Jasper please find him." There was a pause "Please find my little brother!" said Amethyst growing more and more desperate "please!"

And then Jasper left. "Jasper!" Amethyst screamed but when he didn't come she broke down sobbing and thinking about Crow and the village that left them for dead!

(Flashback)

It started last week two days before the choosing ceremony in the beat down village the village council leader pulled Amethyst and Crow over behind the ceremonial village hut and said. "I know that you and Crow are still very young, but as you know we have to send 2 young members of our village into the maze as a sacrifice for the beast and the others on the council have decided that because of your problems learning our way you and your brother will be the sacrifices this year" the console member she finishing without showing any emotions at all "WHAT!" said Amethyst said not able to conceal her anger. But the console member just shrugged and walked away.

Two days Later

The day of the choosing Amethyst and crow put on their most rugged outfit. The rest of their clothes would be given away. And then walked out the door accompanied by the rest of their family when they entered the ceremonial hut the speaker welcomed them saying what a great honor this was and blah blah blah

The speaker then beckoned it Amethyst and Crow to follow her and they followed her up to the stage the speech was short and afterward, a young man came and took the two siblings two the entrance of the maze.

Amethyst woke up from her dream and looked down at her feet. she was jerked out of her thoughts by something bumping against her foot she looked down and what she saw was a small amethyst she was covered in small amethysts! Was I crying that Amethyst thought can I cry crystals then Jasper opened the door and walked in. "come with me." Jasper's voice was cold and hard as he held out his hand to her and helped her walk out of the dark cave. As she stepped out light flooded her eyes making her temporarily blind! Jasper walked down a few hallways and then stopped in front of a door that read: GIRLS DORMITORY: studded with silver. "Your room." said Jasper "your bed number is 638" then he left her and Amethyst walked right in. Looking around the small room seeing a few other girls in the room and then a bed marked 638 and a stack of colored clothes. The clothes had beautiful gems with black, gold, and blue they were put in a spiral design on the tunic. The pants hand blue and gold at the bottom of the pants. "Oh, fresh meat! I wonder how long you'll last, probably not more than a week" a girl with ruby red hair and jade green streaks say. "I am Fanta." she says with a smirk "I am looking forward to this!" GIRLS! NOW!" Mistress Coral calls. Almost all the girls stood up "oh I am sorry you can't come you have to be tested first. Bye now" said Fanta then she walked out of the room.
