The bell for Lunch rang throughout the building. Craig didn't speak, but led me to a table and sat next to me the entire time. People still nudged each-other and whispered in our direction, but it was easier to ignore than I thought. I poked at the mushy lumps on my plate and ate half of it, avoiding a particular long black hair sticking out of it. Halfway through the 'feeding zoo' silenced and two girls walked in. Craig lifted his hand to them and they sat down, giggling. "Craig! Who's the new kid?" The shorter girl asked, she had dark eyes and lighter-brown hair. She smiled at me. I turned to the taller girl, her hair was darker and less curly, she gave me a hard stair in return. They were like two opposites, but Craig seemed to relax in their presence so I assumed they were nice enough.
"Oh, this is Tweek. He's my new roommate." Craig coughed as he said this and the taller girl raised her eyebrows sarcastically. "Tweek, this is Amber and Eve." Eve, the shorter one waved, but Amber just stared up my arms and around my neck and ears. I frowned, but saw as Craig smiled at me happily and turned to them. Eve started nodding her head and whispering, "yes,
I will, no, not yet, later."
I blinked hard and Craig laughed, "oh yes, I forgot to mention, Eve hears voices, you'll get used to it eventually. Amber's in here for assault and 'obsessive' behaviour." I nodded,
"Craig?"
"Yes?"
"Why does everyone stare and point at us? Did you do something." Craig opened his mouth then shook his head. Amber giggled.
"It's not what he HAS done, more what he is GOING to do."
"TAKE THAT BACK!" Craig slammed the table,
"How about, no?" Amber brushed her hair behind her ear, "listen, Tweek, Craig, has how do I say this, some rumours floating around him. Rumours that happen to be true, rumours that happen to involve you."
"What sort of rumours?" I gulped.
"Well, ever heard of the word, 'consent'?"
I tried to ask for some more explanation, but Amber just shrugged her shoulders and put a pair of headphones on.
"The guards don't really have rules on phones," Craig said. I sighed. He didn't seem in the mood for talking, Eve was deep in conversation with...herself, and Amber was singing along to a song blasting into her headphones, "If you love me let me goooo!" (10 points if you know what song that is!!Hint: it's by my favourite band) I felt alone, but I also felt worried. The word 'consent' was floating through my mind. What did Amber mean?
