The Funeral

"She was one of the best people I know." Jess's mother said. "She made the world a better place." I watched walk away in silence. I'm Terra. Jess's best friend, well I was her best friend. Until she did something unbelievable. I'm at her funeral, watching how people came up to her coffin and put roses in it. Jess thought they were cliche. She never liked them, she said that life is like "Stranger Things", not some kind of a Disney movie. She committed suicide. When I first heard that, I sat on the floor, and the people that were there saw my tears roll down. I couldn't believe it. She had a great life, and great friends, but something made her do it. After Jess's mom said her speech, she walked towards the door. As she stepped outside the room, I heard her crying. It was my turn to come up, and say my speech. I slowly stood up, and walked over there, trying not to cry. I stood in front of her coffin and a tear rolled down my cheek. It fell on her beautiful white dress, I watched it fall. But I couldn't stop it, like I couldn't stop Jess. I turned towards the audience and started my speech.
" Jess... was one of the best people I know. She would never hurt anyone. And I didn't think she would hurt herself. I'm her best friend. I had to know what she was going through..." I stopped and wiped a tear.
" She had a lot of friends. As well as a lot of enemies. But, she would never get mad at them. She would come back at them after they said something mean about her." I smiled. " She would make up a crazy comeback, just to make them apologize. I would be there, I would see how bad the people felt after Jess came up to them. And... I do not understand... why would she do this? But I guess, it was her own choice. And, I have no right to judge her." I turned around and got out something out of my pocket. It was a toy. A tiny, little toy. It was a puppy, it had long, blonde ears. Jess would carry him everywhere. She called the toy her "lucky charm". I could agree with it. She passed each and every exam with that toy. But, the only reason I didn't like it, was because of the name. Edgar. When we decided to name it, I came up with the name "Reese" but Jess didn't like that. It was her lucky charm, and she had to name it. So she came up with Edgar. I put it under her arm. As I carefully lift her arm up, I saw cuts all over it. She cut her arms. As I put her arm down, I saw bruises. I was curious, but I couldn't do anything else. I left the toy, and walked away crying. I sat in my chair and waited until the end.
