"Oh god." I whispered. My eyes were already filled with tears. Because the body that lay there the body of my "enemy" was my mothers. Her hair was in the same highlighted messy bun and she wore the same clothes she was wearing the night I thought she died........
Control yourself! I yelled at myself mentally. I was shaking in a sickening way my entire body moving incontrolalbly. Time seemed like something irrelevant. I was still laying over her body crying my eyes out when I realized how everything was my fault. If only I had decided to stay and clean. . .
Kyle rang the doorbell, still with our hands intertwined, and a huge smile on his face. I'm not sure how someone managed to hear the doorbell over the intensly loud music, but a tall brunnete with freckles opened the door.
I recognized her immeadietly, she was Snow White in last year's play. Her name was Liz. I felt completely under dressed once I looked at her. She wore a tight navy blue polka-dot dress with tights, and some black booties.
"I bet your looking for Jason." she said, her voice slurring in unusual places. She raises one hand to scratch her head. A beer in her hand. " To tell you the truth I have no idea what he might be up to," she chuckled as if remembering something "but come in, come in."
Kyle stepped in awkardly. Trying to make no contact at all with her. She smiled at him, I walked in half hidden behind him.
" I don't bite." she said innocently. Then leaned in to his ear, "Unless you want me to."
I cleared my throat.
"Liz ." Was all Kyle managed to say.
"Whoa!" I heard someone say as he approched us. I turned around to look at him, it was Jason. "Stop pestering my guests!"
She gave me a dirty look, a wink for Jason, and left.
"Well Kyle glad you made it." Jason stepped closer to us.
"Anytime." Kyle said stepping in to give him a half-hug.
"Whose this?" He asked turning his attention to me.
Kyle grabbed my arm, and kept me safely behind him.
Jason laughed. Jason seemed the same as always I never really spoke to him during school. Mostly because he hung out with the obnoxious jocks. I looked up at his hazel eyes, and he stared back at mine half mad.
"Where have you been keeping this one?--" Jason said all friendlyness gone, his voice hard and sharp.
I flinched suddenly scared.
"To myself." Kyle replied quickly cutting off whatever Jason was about to say.
I felt Kyle flex his arm as he wrapped it around my waist. Jason rose his hands like if a cop was telling him to freeze.
I had no clue what might be going on, so I stepped out of Kyle's grip, walking up to Jason.
"Where's the restroom?" I asked quietly.
His eyes snapped back toward me, and he almost seemed to blurr out of my vision. My eyes turned wide as I took three steps backward.
Before I could scream or react, Kyle tackled him to the wall. My response was run! And I did I ran up the stairs and opened the first door on the right, and found my bestfriend with her ex-boyfriend about to him a home run.
I gasped, and they both turned to stare at me. I walked out and heard her scream "I'm sorry" and run out the door.
I opened the next door and sighed. I found the bathroom I walked in and heard it close behind me.
"Alex."
"What Kara?!" I snapped.
"I can explain. Please just let me come in." She pleaded.
I opened the door letting her in. I sat down on the chair to the vanity. She closed the door to the bathroom and turned to look at me.
"Before you start yellin at me. I'm sorry. I didn't know what I was thinking!"
"You weren't thinking!" I yelled at her just as she said I would. I sighed taking a deep breath.
She covered her mouth as she kneeled down to throw-up on the toilet. I walked to her and helped her hold her hair. Once she was done I helped her wash her face and mouth.
"There," I said "just please keep your clothes on."
"Kay." she muttered.
I sighed and leaned agaisnt the sink.
"Who brought you anyways?" She asked curiously.
"Uhmm." Uh-oh I thought. I started to stall because Kara didn't really like Kyle. Just tell her! She'll find out sooner or later. "Kyle." I whispered waiting for the yelling.
"What?" she said.
I waited. I looked up at her catiously. She was red like a tomatoe!
"Why would you let him bring you?! He's a scumbag. A jerk. He's mean! A player! You deserve better. His looks are prying you in. Don't you see? He's mean spirited. I'm disappointed in you!!" She took in a lungful of air.
"Kara you're wrong. Kyle isn't like that. Just because he was friends with you're ex-boyfriend doesn't mean anything! He could be one of the nicest guy if you would just give him a chance!"
"Pfft, give him a chance. Your on a completely different planet right now!"
"Ugh whatever. I'm going down there and prove you wrong!"
"No! Don't drink."
I slammed the bathroom door behind me leaving her alone in the bathroom. I walked down the stairs and to the living room. I got shoved a bit by the hot dancing bodies. I headed toward the porch outside. I walked out closing the door behind me. I heard whispers near the edge of the forest, and started walking toward them.
"You have to let me!" I heard Jason scream. I stopped listening to their conversation.
"No!" Kyle yelled.
"I know you can feel the potiental she has! She would be great." Jason whispered.
"I don't care. Alex she's MINE!" Kyle snapped.
I shuddered quickly re-thinking what Kara had said.
"Her mom is with us on this one. You can't ignore our leader either; 'seek out the best!'. We have to follow orders!"
"My mom?" I whispered confused.
I didn't hear their whispers so I started to back away slowly. I stepped on a twig making it snap. I shuddered and froze. I heard footsteps, so I half sprinted back to the house. I opened the door and closed it behind me I got shoved by the bodies to the dance floor. I danced toward the front door planning my escape when I got shoved into someone.
"Sorry!" I yelled over the loud music.
"Alex." I heard him say. I looked up and saw Kyle staring at me his eyes filled with panic. . . .
