        “Hey Kate. Who you texting.”
“My sister. She wants to know what I’m doing. I just said I’m busy. It’s not that important ” I put my phone in my pocket. “Where’s Asia?”
Makenzie points to the house. “Just being slow.”
We laugh. I look up and down the house. How can someone be so slow at everything but run so fast? I watch as the door knob turns and Asia appears from the doors. Makenzie makes a loud cough.
“...*cough, cough* Bike *cough* cough*”
“Shoot! I’ll be right back.”
Asia runs back inside. How can someone be this bad. I feel a weird buzz. I open my phone.
“Sister?”
I stare at my phone, “ She keeps telling me to come home.”
“Why? It’s not like we’re running away.” Makenzie smirks at the thought of us trying to run away. Her face is so obvious to read sometimes it’s sad, but makes life easy for everyone else.
Asia finally arrived with her bike. Her dark skin shines in the sunlight but not as much as Makenzie. Asia wore her braids in a bun and did her edges. She really must of tried to look nice - for no apparent reason. She is wearing a red shirt and leggings, even though it is almost 90 degrees outside. Makenzie’s style is kind of strange. She’s wearing shorts with black leggings that go down to her cafs, and a gray sweater to top it of. She looks like she should be sweating. At least her hair is in a ponytail.
“Sorry, my parents wanted to know where we were going.” Asia says as she walks her bike towards us.
“Finally lets go!” Makenzie punches Asia’s shoulder and then bikes off.
Sometimes I wonder how we put up with such an aggressive and spontaneous personality. I know Asia is thinking the same thing. She always rubs where it hurts. We head off after Makenzie, trying to keep up with her.
