Chapter 14

Thankfully, everyone I'm looking for is conveniently in the same place. Though they're mostly there because Wyatt mentally communicated for them to meet us in the pack's makeshift prison building. It's an eerily quiet building since Xavier's pack doesn't really keep prisoners.

Caleb is at the pack house being tended to while Wyatt stands silently beside me.

Xavier and Thomas are watching us both with cautious yet angry eyes. I'm not sure whose anger scares me more at this moment. Or would be scaring me if I wasn't so on edge for how all of this is going to play out.

Thankfully, our friend in the trunk stayed passed out through the entire journey and even through Wyatt and I transporting him here. Currently, he's laying on the floor of one the interrogation rooms a few doors from where we're all stood.

Xavier is staring me down, barely contained fury trying to burn a hole through me. "What the hell were you thinking?"

Wyatt shifts uncomfortably beside me but stays silent. He knows better than to try and step between me and his angry Alpha right now.

"To be entirely honest, I don't know." My answer only seems to throw gas on the fire as his nostrils flare. Still, I push forward. "I just...I couldn't stand the waiting and wondering who he'd target next and-"

I'm cut off by Sarah coming through the door. Upon seeing all of us, her eyes go wide. "What's going on?"

"And why did you have me call her here? She shouldn't be anywhere near here right now."

I turn my full attention to Sarah but answer Zay. "Let's just say she knows the guy."

Thomas scoffs. "Of course she does. He kidnapped her."

Sarah seems to realize who we're talking about because she starts to back toward the door. In the blink of an eye, Wyatt is there blocking her path.

She starts to hyperventilate and I barely manage to keep Zay from going to her.

"Don't. He can't hurt her, he wouldn't want to. She's only running because she's been running from him. She's been running from him for a long time, haven't you, Sarah?"

She starts to shake, and I'm starting to question if I actually know what I think I do when she screams.

"Shut up! Shut up! Why would I want that- that- thing!" She spits out the word like it's something vile. "I have Xavier and he loves me. I would never need that... abomination in that room. He's nothing, nothing! Just like you're nothing."

Anger looks wrong on her but she wears it like it's something expensive as she stomps toward me.

"You're nothing, you know that? He thinks you're not, but you and I both know different. He thought you were his mate when he first saw you, did he tell you that bullshit?" It feels like the air is knocked out of me but she doesn't seem to notice. "He actually thought that some Siren piece of shit could be his destined, but Werewolves and Sirens can't possibly. They'd tear each other apart. Even now, with you so conveniently becoming half Werewolf. He's a fool if he thinks you could be his." She steps up to me, spittle dripping from her lips as she pokes a finger into the center of my chest. "You are nothing. You are a worthless, waste of-"

She cuts off with a scream as I wrap my hand around her finger and twist her whole arm. I give a little jerk, satisfied when I hear a crunch that means something is broken. I let her go and bring my face down toward her ear as she bends over, cradling her arm against her body.
