when olivia's father re marries, her mother sends her to meet her dads new family. the 18 year old struggles to come to terms with the fact that her parents are no longer together. but when she locks eyes with step brother jesse, can she keep away...
i was all ready, make up done, hair done and nails done.
i got into my dress and walked downstairs.
"wow, you look beautiful, sweetie." my mom said with glossy eyes.
"thankyou, mom." i kissed her on the cheek.
"we best get going!" rachel said.
"oh yes yes, we just gotta get your dad." her mom replied, a bit excitedly, which confused me.
—- we pulled up at my fathers house, jesse came out to help me out of the car, "you look stunning, babe." he kissed my cheek.
"thankyou, you look very handsome."
he greeted his mom, mine and rachel.
"we gotta go inside." he said.
i nodded in response, but the girls on the other hand, looked really nervous.
i didn't bother asking questions because i'd get told to shut up or to carry on moving inside.
jesse put his hands over my eyes, causing me to flinch.
"relax, liv. i got you." he whispered.
"mom?" i questioned.
"olivia, you'll be fine." she responded with a chuckle.
i mentally rolled my eyes.
—- jesse had guided me to the front door, i heard it open, and muffled noises in the background.
once jesse had let go of me, I opened my eyes to loads of people shouting, "SURPRISE!!"
loads of my mother's family were here and my old school friends.
i was on the verge of tears, "you guys, did this all for me?"
my family nodded. they came up to me one by one and hugged me tightly.
—— i was so happy, my mom and dad were in the same room actually getting along. levi bought his girlfriend round, she seems chill.
i was dancing with jesse to an upbeat song, when the music stopped,
"can i have everyone's attention, please?" my dad spoke into his mic.
everyone fell silent, "as you guys are aware that it's my beautiful daughters birthday. wow, nineteen. i can remember the day that you came into this world, leah. you were a blessing. i'm sorry I left, i love you so much. we all do. happy nineteenth birthday, baby girl."
my dad put the mic down and pulled me into the worlds biggest hugs, "i love you too, dad. so much."
he squeezed me even tighter.
i got jesse to take a picture of me at my party after i made my speech an hour after my fathers.
tonight was such a surprise, i loved every second of it.
even though the nights not over, i'm really overwhelmed.
i grab my glass of punch, tapping it so i can get everyone's attention.
"sorry guys, but i just want to say a few things. first off, mom, i love you so much. thankyou for everything these past few years; you were always there for me through the good and bad times. i couldn't of gotten through them without your support and attention. next off, dad, let me just start off with this, i missed you, you know? a lot. christmas', birthdays and thanksgivings. i know that's all in the past and it's now fully forgotten, when I heard from mom that you were re marrying, i was upset. i thought you would come back, but i'm glad you're happy. i love your family a lot. to my step mom, you've been great these past few months of me staying, we haven't once fallen out, because you let me do my own thing. i hope we can keep our relationship strong, i love you. last but not least, my siblings, you guys are amazing, you're all so supportive that sometimes i can't believe it. i always think 'wow, how sarcastic of you' and stuff like that, but you guys are really awesome. you've made me feel so welcome and when i move back to my moms place we can still see each other as she's right across the street. thankyou for this great party and my gifts, especially my car. i love you all, have a good night."
everyone raised their glasses, "Underhill's" my dad yelled.
"UNDERHILLS!"
i put the mic down and received loads of hugs.
jesse first and my family were in awe, "i love you, Jesse."
"i love you too, babe."
he kissed my forehead and we carried on partying until we couldn't party no more.
