Prologue
Papa had not come home for nearly 2 weeks. I was worrying my 5 year old brain out. I asked mama and she said papa had gone on a business trip and would be back before the end of the week. The end of week came and went and he still had not come home. I was starting to think that mama was lying and papa wasn't coming home. My tiny feet tapped across the marble floor as i looked around for mama. She was sitting on a chair with glass filled with brown liquid. I walked up to her and tapped on her knee.
"Mama, is papa coming home today?" i asked. She picked up the glass that she had placed on the table and downed the whole glass.
"Yes, sweetie were going to go get him now from the airport. Why don't you go put your coat on?" she replied a little too cheerily.
"Okay mama" i said.
After i had worn my red pea coat, mama strapped me in the car and we drove off. My eyes were focused on the trees we passed, i had started to sing a song that i had learnt in school but mama had told me to shut up. We were just arriving on a bridge when mama started to act strange. She had rolled down all the windows and made sure my seatbelt was on.
"Mama im co-" i was about to say but she had interrupted me.
"it doesn't matter sweetie it will be over soon" she said."it will all be over soon" she kept on repeating. I was starting to get scared. "mama you're scaring me" i cried but she wouldn't listen. Tears streamed down my cheeks. I tried calling her again but it seemed like she was in some sort of trance. Before i could even scream the car swerved and fell into a massive lake. The car had already started to fill up on the freezing cold water. I tried desperately to open my seatbelt but it just wouldn't budge. The water was already up to my neck, my tiny body and hands were already numb making it even more difficult to open the seatbelt. The car was filled with ice cold water. My chest contracted with amount of water i had consumed. My lungs burned as i tried to breathe. It was so cold. I couldn't feel my hands or legs. I was losing consciousness. Everything was starting to get dimmer. I couldn't handle the pain no longer, i looked over at mama only to find and an empty seat. She had left me to die alone in the ice cold water. Just then my whole surroundings had turned and was engulfed in darkness.
