In the beginning, the world was boring. It was blank and wasn't a very interesting place, yet. The fact that the world was boring made Gæa, goddess of the earth spring to life. Gæa was so fertile she didn't need a man to make a baby. Gæa had two titan sons, Uranus, the lord of the skies and Pontus, the lord of the seas. Gæa also gave birth to the Cyclops and the Hekatonkeries. Uranus gave birth to the terrible, the awful, Kronos. Kronos was a titan, and he had a terrible fear of his father. He hated his father so much he cut of his testicle. From that testicle, Aphrodite, the goddess of love, pleasure, and beauty was born. Uranus's blood gave birth to the Erinyes and the Giants. Kronos has wounded his father and then, took the universe as his own. They deemed Kronos's reign as, the golden age. During his time as king, the first men were created. Kronos chose his older sister Rhea as his wife. Rhea was pregnant with 6 children when Kronos received a prophecy stating that Kronos, just like his grandfather and father, would be overthrown by one of his children. Rhea gave birth to Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, Poseidon, and then Zeus. Kronos devoured each child as they were born, just swallowed them whole, Before giving birth to Zeus, she vowed to never let this happen again. She wrapped a stone in a cloth and let Kronos eat that instead of Zeus. She took Zeus to Crete, found a cave, and Zeus was raised there. Growing up, Zeus learned what his father had done to his brothers and sisters. He chose the titaness, Metise, as his wife. Metise was known for her intelligence, which Zeus admired her for. Metise told Zeus of a potion that could make Kronos vomit up the contents of his stomach. Zeus made the potion and made his way to Mount Orthys, where the titans thrived. Zeus disguised himself as a cup bearer, slipped the drug into the wine, and handed Kronos the drink. One sip, BOOM. Kronos vomited up all of the divine children he had swallowed. Zeus and Metise to all the full grown gods to Crete and they certainly had something to celebrate, but Zeus remembered something. Gæa still wept because her children were locked in Tartarus. Zeus made his way to the underworld, salted the dragon who guarded the entrance and made his way there. "Come forth my uncles, for you had been freed" and let they Cyclopes and Hekatonkeries go. They Cyclopes were so thankful they made Zeus,Poseidon, and Hades the most powerful weapons in all of Greece to use during the war that would be fought between the olympians and titans. Zeus, was given a lightning bolt that he could throw at every titan in sight, Hades, was given the Helm of Darkness that could turn him invisible so he could sneak into the titan camps and set fire to everything. Poseidon, was given a trident to kill all water born titans. Ultimately, the Olympians won. Zeus split up the kingdom and gave one part to each of the brothers.
