Everything about Korean culture is riddled with some of the most outrageous decisions Yoongi had once said to a sleeping Jimin. He knew he was asleep, and quite frankly he liked it that way. No stupid retorts or questions - Yoongi could just sit there and blow out the lines of his stressful day to another person. He doesn't know why Jimin always complains about Yoongi sleeping when he's trying to tell a story, this was paradise.
But back to the point - k-pop is known for creating most of the biggest trends that encircle society. Flashy studded outfits, make-up that makes your face look creepily shiny, and bright, stand-out hair colours that idols change as if changing clothes - constantly. In every group, there is the one. The IT. The sacrifice. Lo and behold, it had to be Min Yoongi - the one member who didn't strive to stand out yet here he is. He can't recall the last time he hasn't had hair that made his mother go "Min Yoongi, you will go bald if you keep this up!" whenever they Skype called.
And here he is again, lounging lazily in his usual salon seat with his head tilted slightly away from the headrest because god forbid these black seats get stained. Gotta have the best for these idols, of course. Inhaling deeply through his nostrils, he immediately regrets the decision as the potent smell of dyes and gels burns it's way into his lungs, choking him a little though he plays it off.
"How long will this take?" he asks a stylist walking by, balancing trays of hair clips on either hand.
"About two hours."
"Fuck."
"Pardon?"
"My gown isn't tucked."
"Oh! So sorry about that," she gasps, gracefully laying the trays down on the counter in front of him before tending to his hanging cape.
He tries not to wince at the feel of cold digits pressing against the sensitive skin of his neck. Though he doesn't know shit about hair styling, he's certain the process would be much speedier of the barbers spent less time chattering on with their customers about irrelevant nonsense and more time actually doing their jobs. Nonetheless, he's never had the heart to moan and bitch about it out loud. That's what coming home to a sleeping Jimin is for.
Lisa somehow manages to scare herself with the loud chime that sounds when she enters the spacious shop, immediately greeted by assigned stylists and the overwhelming smell of hair product and the light burning of hair blowers, straighteners and curlers. Is heat a smell? she can't help but wonder. Chaeyoung says she dislikes the egg-y smells that salons emit, preferring to have Jennie do her hair at home most of the time.
She doesn't dislike dyeing her hair - it's sort of refreshing being the one in the group. Since debut, standing out with golden locks and straight cut bangs, immediately capturing the hearts of adoring fans looking for a new charismatic female rapper. A change of hair colour always feels like a slight change in character (though her bubbly, half-awkward offstage self would always remain).
You're going to go bald if you keep getting these crazy colours, Lalisa, Jisoo had told her with a laugh. In fact, she even went the extra mile to download an app that showed exactly what she would look like bald. In her opinion, it didn't look half bad. The only look Lisa has ever regretted was the one that resulted from a mishap at a barbershop in Thailand when one slip of the wrist gave her 'boy' hair for a good two years. She inwardly shivers at the memory.
"I'll be back in a sec, ma'am," her stylist tells her with a slight grasp on her shoulders, leaving before Lisa could respond with a quiet 'uh yeah, sure'.
