"Yuki, double shot espresso!"

"On it!"

Yukimi expertly slid the steaming mug filled with concentrated caffeine towards the cashier.

"Ack! I said DOUBLE SHOT! Why did you make it triple?"

"Trust me, Karu, you'll need it once the customers start filling in."

As Yukimi walked out to flip the sign indicating  that the café is open, she sighed. As much she loved Sacre Café, she most definitely couldn't handle the customers on her own - her anxiety got to her once and she nearly threw a steaming cup of caramel macchiato at a particularly pesky customer. Luckily for her, her friend Hikaru offered to help for the cashier duties, so that's one less concern.

Ring~

"Welcome to Sacre Café! Today our special is Iced Orange Mocha - Heya, Ryo-chi! Glad to see that you live a life outside of college! What would you like to order today?"

"Shut up, you knucklehead. Double shot espresso. No, make it triple."

"You shut up, nerd! Who in their right mind would drink a triple shot espresso?"

"HIKARU YOU SHUT UP RIGHT NOW DIDN'T YOU JUST DOWN THE WHOLE TRIPLE I GAVE YOU? DON'T YOU DARE INSULT MY CUSTOMERS!"

"Yah yah, got it ma'am. That would be $2.50!"

"I thought we have extra charges for extra shots..."

"Well, the extra's on me 'cuz Ryo-chi is sooo cute!"

Insert awkward silence as the customer (Ryo) glared at Hikaru.

"Wait, Karu, a double espresso?"

"Yukimi, it's a TRIPLE not a double! Don't get it wrong again!"

"Hai hai, a triple espresso!"

Yukimi was curious to check out why people just seemed to love espressos with double or triple shots. Espresso was bitter enough already, adding more shots in made it taste even worse! Her favourites would be the Christmas Special Gingerbread Mocha or Toffee Latte with soymilk (don't ask her why. Coffee with soymilk tastes delicious)

So, while she was brewing the coffee, she decided to strike up a conversation with the customer.

"Soooo why are you ordering a triple shot espresso this early? I mean, a double shot is - sorry! I was being rude again, wasn't I? What's your name?"

"Call me Ryo. But don't add anything after my name like that idiot over there (glares at Hikaru). You'll regret it."

"Noted, Ryo-kun~"

"Argh. It's not a wonder that birds of a feather flock together. You two are BOTH idiots."

"Thanks, sweetie~ I'll take that as a compliment!"

"SHUT UP HIKARU BEFORE I STRANGLE YOU WITH MY BARE HANDS!"

Despite saying this, Ryo was having a smile on his face and certainly doesn't look like a murderer.

With Hikaru and Ryo bickering like idiots, Yukimi just looked at them with a smile. It was clear that they have something going on, yet they just don't acknowledge it.

"Hey you Karu I thought I hired you to be a cashier not a flirt!"

"Sorry Yuki! Ryo-chi is just too cute!"

"SAY THAT ONCE MORE AND YOUR SORRY ASS WILL BE ON THE FLOOR!"

"Ryo-kun, if you insist on dumping my only employee's sorry ass on the floor, do it outside of the café. You're scaring away the customers, eh? So many potential customers scared away because of YOU. So how do you think you can pay me for this?"

"... Work for you?"

"Not what I expected but even better! Now I have two employees for me to order around like a boss which I am. You can start working from tomorrow, right? Since we are all college students our café only opens after most classes ended. The shifts should be alright with ya, right?"

So that's how Yukimi earned a new employee by threatening a customer. And all the troubles with espressos with extra shots she have gone through certainly does not help her with getting most of the orders right, sadly.
