One Too One Hundred

Prologue

"Aish,  Zero what we're you thinking? " Four growls shifting back to his normal lanky figure. Zero shifts back to himself his black and blue hair blowing in the autumn wind. Zero sighs,  this is his second year in training. All shifters must go through a certain amount of training before they can be released into the world. The most common shifters are Almica,  and Morgali.  Zero is categorized with the least common.  He is a Bargroy. His shifting abilities are the second rarest,  that is why Four his trainer.  Is there to help him. Four may seem like a low lanky shifter,  but he is pretty powerful.  And he helps when he can. Four comes from a society within the upper ring of ByWater city.  The society is set up in seven units, dedicated to the seven species of shifters. Each member of the society has  code name,  either numbers or animals. They dedicate there lives to protect, teach, and train young shifters. Most shifters arrive at age 10, but Zero arrived at 6 due to how rare his abilities are. The keepers of the society made Four seek out Zero and his family. But it turned out he was an orphan and was a pick pocket. When Four found Zero it was pure coincidence. Zero pushes his hand through his hair trying to tame the mess of color.
"I'm sorry,  but I couldn't keep up he was going to fast. " He whispers sadly.  Four scoffs rolling his eyes as he continues walking. Four has always put his trainees on a pedestal.  All except Zero,  he always seemed a little.  Off,  yeah off,  he was always too clumsy and preferred to talk things over instead of fighting. To Four that was completely stupid,  so he treated it like a disease. He never let Zero out of his sight. But Zero couldn't care less,  all he cares about it getting out of this place and being by himself again. Of Course he still has two more years of training.  But he dreams of the day he can get away from the combat and misfortune. Suddenly Hawk flies by and lands on Fours shoulder,  whispering something into his ear that Zero can't here.  Fours blue eyes go wide.
"Training is over today. " He says before Hawk hops off and begins to flap his wings then Four transforms into a wolf and is running after the the other shifter. Zero is left by himself for once which makes him uneasy,  he has never been left alone. His whole time in the society he has had someone by his side,  even if he didn't want it. Zero decides to quickly walk back to his unit where he finds everything in chaos. But it doesn't take him long to sense what is different.  A very distinct smell,  every species has its own smell.  Zero has never actually smelt this before. It's a very special smell,  no specie has the same smell.  But this specie,  is the rarest of them all.  The smell of smoke and pine is heavy in the air.
A Mangropan,  has set foot into the trainees unit.
