Chapter 4: Oh haha, didn't realize that you actually tried to be funny
MARIAH POV
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Homecoming at Graham High may seem super fun and a great time for football, but in reality it's just a silly week for some game, and recognition for the sport captains, aka Seniors and Juniors. For soccer, I have everyone on the Varsity Team over for a huge soccer sleepover, where shit goes down. Literally, one year we had one of the dogs shit on the floor. But other than that, school goes on, the dress up days continue the week, and the teachers act like they're all that.
"MARIAH ESMERALDA ALEXANDER, IF YOU DON'T GET YOUR LAZY ASS UP RIGHT NOW YOU'RE GONNA BE-" My lovely mother screams in my room. I smirk as she realizes I'm not in there, and grab my bag off of the counter.
"I'M LEAVING BYE!" I scream back just to make her look like a fool.
"DON'T DO DRUGS!" She says before I slam the front door shut and walk outside to my car before I feel the buzz of my phone in my back pocket. I grab it out, and see that it's Khloe calling.
"WHAT?"
"IT'S TARGET TUESDAY! YOU BETTER HAVE YOUR RED SHIRT AND KHAKIS ON OR ELSE I'LL-" I pull the phone away from my ear and scream "I DID" before I hang up. Too much yelling for me. I'm gonna get some coffee, I think as I stop by Panera on the way to school before checking the time.
"30 minutes? Who am I?" I laugh.
After parking (barely got a parking pass) in the school lot, I walk into school laughing at everyone's khakis, even though I have a pair of my own.
"Mar!" I hear a voice by me, and I turn my head to see Cara.
"Hey girl, what's up?" I say casually, even though I see her wandering eyes look over to her crush, David.
"Oh-uh nothing really. Just excited for this weekend, I can't believe the football team is doing so good!"
"Uh, Cara, we aren't going to the game. We're having the sleepover this weekend, remember?"
Her eyebrows furrow, and her jaw slacks. "Uh, Oh yeah I might not go"
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN 'I MIGHT NOT GO!?' IT'S A TRADITION!"
"But- I was asked to go to the dance, So I'm gonna go to the game first" She replies, looking guilty.
I stare at her, wondering if she just grew a third head. It's been a long standing tradition of ours since freshman year, and I'm not letting her get off the hook without a good screaming match.
As soon as I open my mouth though, Khloe's already talking over me
"I can't believe that Jessica bitch didn't wear khakis and a red shirt! Its target Tuesday, get with the program you asshole!"Shrugging, I walk it off, and open my locker, only to find a red envolope taped to the inside of the door. Frowning, I get the tape off, and see the smooth, cursive writing on the front, my name. Opening it, I feel 3 things inside, and grab them out. A card, letter, and 2 tickets to the Homecoming Dance, titled "Once in a Century". I open the card and ...
