School has never stirred that much interest on my part, but it’s bearable. I’d even say better than spending
your time going through the job advert section of the local newspaper, or serving rude clients who act as if
they own the world.
Well, they do, at least in my world.
But today I just wasn’t feeling it. My economy test was the last thing I could worry about. I have three mouths to feed, not including mine, and taking an exam I wasn’t prepared for wouldn’t help me in anyway.
Although cutting classes isn’t exactly what you call a solution either.
Plus, of all days, why it had to rain on a Monday? The perfect day to leave your umbrella behind.
I pounder my options just to realize there aren’t any.
The town’s library is closed on Mondays and going to a café is out of question. I was tempted to enter the
first one I come across to and order whatever it takes the longest to finish, but I decided otherwise: this weekend grocery left me with 4 euro and 52 cents, and Kitty has been craving for that doughnut at California Bakery. 3 euro and 50 cents for some fried dough with a hole in the middle and some fancy toppings on is what should be considered as a theft.
But how do you explain to a 6-year-old girl that we can’t afford it because her dad’s hospital expenses have gone up and there were still no sign of improvement? You just don’t.
You bite your tongue and promise to buy her one even bigger than that Alicia girl’s who’s been picking on her non-stop.
For a moment I lost the track of time and without noticing, the rain has turned into a storm. The weather has been awful for almost ten days now.
Some think it must be God punishing humankind and in 40 days everyone will be wiped out. Everyone except Moses II and some bunch of animals for the new world, you know, instead of creating everything from scratch once again. Maybe this time they’ll save some smartphones as well.
I stopped believing in God or any sort of deities when… I don’t really know when it happened, I wasn’t that much of a believer before, but I used to go to mass on Sundays. Forced by my mom.
Still, I believe there’s someone out there, with greater powers and a bigger plan for this planet.I just hope I’m among those who He is planning to wipe out.
~This is the first chapter! A bit short, but I hope very much appreciated.
