Chapter 1

It was such a hot day that I decided to climb into the shade of my favourite tree with that book uncle Joe had given me for my birthday. It was so cool up in the branches and as I was about to open my book, I get a text from my mom asking me to come home and clean!

Oh boy I hate cleaning! Ugh.. I never want to leave this tree! I thought as I opened the book to the page I was on.

This tree has been here ever since I was 5 and I was always there, to read, to get out of the house, and sometimes just to relax. There's a big river behind it too, and I sometimes go swimming! The fact is I was at the spot i never wanted to leave it.

Ding ding,

I look at the screen of my phone again and read the message

'Where are you? Come home this minute and clean your room, were having people over.'

I closed my book and entered my reply 'Mom it's not like there going to come to my room!' then pressed the send button

Ding ding!

I couldn't believe how quickly she had answered my message but when i looked there were only two words on the screen;

'HOME, NOW'

So that was the end of the argument and i headed home.

I wasn't very far from home when i saw Austin Mitchell. He was so dreamy, the type of guy who gets all the girls! He didn't even notice me as the girls from school flounced about him like bees around honey. To be honest I know he will never will. I'm the sort of girl who nobody looks at. Why would he want a girl with long skirts, glasses, and who always has a book in her hand! Okay, so I'm not ugly but i knew that I'd never be as pretty as those other girls. :o)

I was staring at the scene for about three minutes before my mom's next text came through. She only used one word this time and that word was 'NOW!!!' So i left the bees to their honey and went home.

"Mom I'm home!" I called as i walked through the front door.

"Where have you been, were having guests over! I need you to help me clean! And make supper!" She yelled without leaving a gap for me to even get a word in.

"As usual," I groaned as soon as she had finished. "And I hate cleaning!" I yelled as i walked down to my bedroom and slammed the door behind me.

After i had finished cleaning my room and making supper with mom I went and got ready for tonight.

I was almost at the steps when I stopped, looked up and saw...
