A collective gasp was heard from the room. I stood up and turned around to face the girl who had the audacity to pour her coffee on me. "What the hell?" I asked. "I didn't do anything. It's not my fault that your boyfriend thinks I'm hot." I probably shouldn't have said that. Luckily, my new friends stood beside me and they were ready to fight. But before things got to heated, a teacher walked up to us and started demanding what happened. "It was an accident, I swear! I was just walking and I tripped. I didn't mean to spill," the girl said. She acted all innocent and perfect. Who the heck does she think she is? The Queen of England? It's my first day, no enemies. Yet. Just walk away, Phoenix. I took a deep breath and shocked everyone around me with my response. "She's right. It was just an accident," I said through gritted teeth and glared at her and Chris. "Oh, alright then," the teacher said," just go get cleaned up before class starts. Miss Mark, please escort Miss Burningshot to the lavatories." How did she know my name?
Caela and I walked to the bathrooms and on the way we bumped into a boy who looked just like her. "Hey, little sis, have you seen Thomas?" He asked. 'Little sis?' She never mentioned that she had a brother. "No, Louis, I haven't. Have you checked the library?" Caela answered. Who's Thomas? I have so many questions. "No. I haven't, I'll check there now. Woah, what happened to you, new girl?" Louis asked.
"Chris complimented her. Let's just say Scarlet didn't like that. And she has a name."
"Well, what is it?" he asked me.
"Phoenix. Nice to meet you. Caela, if you don't mind, I would like to get this coffee out of my hair," I said impatiently. "Good luck finding Thomas." I gave him a sarcastic thumbs up, grabbed Caela's wrist and walked off.Fifteen minutes later, the coffee was washed out of my hair and I was braiding it, so that it didn't get in the way. I have questions, now I need answers. "Why didn't you tell me what Scarlet looked like? How did that teacher know my name? Why didn't you tell me that you had a brother? Who's Thomas?" I asked all of my questions at once, not wasting any time. She could answer me while we walked to our dorm to get the necessary books for the first few periods. "Slow down, Nixie. Breathe," Caela suggested. "A, I didn't think you'd bump into her so soon. B, she probably got you confused with Aqua; I told you that you two look alike. C, I was planning on it. Louis is a year older, but he failed Year 1, so he was held back. D, Thomas Jayliffe is Louis' best friend, Aqua doesn't like him and no one knows why, he's a sweetheart, bookworm and a jock. So, to sum Thomas up in a word: perfect."
"'Bookworm' and 'jock' don't go together," I laughed. "And there's no way he's perfect."
"He's 6'2, platinum blonde, blue eyed, lean (yet muscular) and don't even get me started on his personality," she retaliated or swooned; I can't decide. "What do you have first?"
"Um, history," I answered. Hopefully the teacher's nice.
"With Sir Viette? Me too!" Caela squealed.
"Sir Viette?" I laughed, "Is that a joke?"
"Yes and no. Yes, we just find it funny. No, he saved the Queen once," she replied.
"Really?"
"Well, no one believes him, but we just play along."We walked into the history class and I sat down in a random seat behind Caela. "Is anyone sitting here?" I asked her.
"Nah, but Thomas sits in the seat next to that one. Ugh, you're so lucky! I have to sit next to Louis," Caela groaned.
"Why don't you just move?" I inquired.
"Sir assigned these seats when we first arrived and we're not allowed to move," she rolled her eyes. The rest of the class arrived and a man, that looked about 50, walked into the classroom wearing a checkered button up shirt and black suit pants. He put his briefcase on his desk and begun writing on the blackboard. I zoned out about 5 minutes later, but then a boy walked in and sat next to me. He was hot, to say the least. I nudged the back of Caela's chair with my foot and she turned around. I nodded towards the boy and she nodded back. She was right; Thomas Jayliffe was physically perfect. "Miss Burningshot, could you please answer the question?" Mr Viette asked. I panicked because I didn't know the answer, but then someone else on the other side of the room began talking. Apart from her pastel blue hair, we were identical. Caela looked at me, as if she was anticipating what I was going to say next. "Aqua?" I whispered and it was like she heard me. Our eyes locked and I knew she could also feel the memories flooding back.
