Finally, I felt like something good was occurring after a month of moping. Finally, I'd found the apartment I'd dreamed of having. Finally, I was able to relax and not worry about what was ahead of me. Or could I?
Dad had gotten off the phone yesterday to tell me that YES, there were two of the three apartments available. Dad was just as excited as me at the news and swung me around in his arms until i felt giddy with excitement. Later that night, we'd talked about driving down to teignmouth to take a look at the apartments which only made us more excited. I'd never been this happy in a long time and it was clear that dad had neither.
Now though, I sat in the car, alongside dad as we drove down the motorway singing our hearts out to Linkin Park on the radio. We'd been in the car for about an hour and I was struggling to contain my excitement. It'd been years since I'd been to teignmouth and the thought of living there gave me butterflies in my stomach.
"How about we stop off at McDonald's and grab some lunch before we get there Ashley?" He shouts, trying to compete against the noise blasting from the radio.
"Sure, I'd like that" I say smiling at him. He returns my smile and then goes back to singing his heart out. I laugh as he hits the wrong notes but smile knowing he's having a good time.
After another ten minutes in the car, we see the signpost for McDonald's and ease our way into the car park. It's busy, and we struggle to find a spot to park in but after circling the car park, we see someone leave and pull into their space.
Once in McDonald's, I order a 'big Mac' with a large coke. Dad orders the same for the fun of it, and as he pays, I walk over to collect the napkins.
"How about we take this back to the car and eat it on the way ash? That way we can get there quicker."
"Yeah, alright." I sip my coke as we walk back to the car and smile. It feels good to finally be outside of the house, and doing something.
An hour and a half later and we finally hit the outskirts of teignmouth. My grin widens as I see the sea, shimmery in the sun.
"You remember the sea then? I remember you being five and running out screaming because some silly little boy told you there was a shark" he chuckles to himself and I can't help but laugh along with him.
"Oh dear. That was so embarrassing." I splutter through my giggles.
"Well... hopefully you'll make new memories whilst you're here." He turns and flashes his toothy smile at me.
"Hopefully."
We turn into a small, quiet road thats surrounded on either side by neat, intricate fisherman's houses. Every garden along the street is well kept and I gasp in awe at how immaculate they all look. We take another turning that takes us onto a bigger street with shops on either side and then take another left turn into a driveway.
Before me I see three identical apartments, all of which face the beach and have an incredible view out to sea. I scream with excitement, making my dad jump and then chuckle.
"Ash! This is incredible!" He gasps in awe
"I know! Dad please can I live here. I'll do anything. Absolutely anything." I plead with him giving him my best shot at puppy dog eyes.
"No good asking me honey, we'll see what Andrew says." Andrew I assume is the owner who appears to be waiting out front of one of the apartments marked number 9. He's a tall, young handsome man, with a freshly trimmed haircut. I smile as we get out of the car and he walks over to us with a slight swagger.
"Hey! You must be Ashley and Darren?" He asked, his voice deep but meaningful.
"Yes yes we are! It's great to be here." My dad enthusiastically points out.
"Well it's great to have you both here. Now if you follow me, I can show you around." We both do as instructed and follow Andrew into the first apartment.
I gasped when I say the interior. The walls were a light blue, paintings of the sea hung upon them. The sitting room had a large and what looked to be, comfort sofa in the corner, with a table and tv before it.
"By the look on your face, you like what you see!" Andrew chuckled whilst staring at me, amused.
"For sure! This place is beautiful!" I gushed.
"Well let me take you into the kitchen. It's just through that door." He points to a door that's ajar.
He leads us into the kitchen which turns out to be a room overlooking the sea. The French doors at the far end of the room light the space. There's a giant table standing proudly in the middle of the room with four accompanying chairs. And the outskirts of the room are rimmed with surfaces to cook on and other necessary things you'd find in a kitchen. I begin to imagine myself waking up and cooking my self breakfast or having friends over for tea. And a giant smile spreads across my face as I take in the rest of the room.
"So this is the kitchen, as you can see it's a rather spacious room, with complementing French doors which add to the light in the room." He turns to my dad as he says this and my dads beam across his face only widens.
"This is incredible Andrew!"
Next, he takes us through to the bedroom. It's a reasonable size, with light blue walls once again and duck egg coloured curtains. The huge double bed stands proudly in the middle of the room up against the far wall, either side of it bed side cabinets stand. The opposite side of the room has a large full size mirror hanging from the wall as well as a dresser and wardrobe.
"I'm in love, this place is lush!" I screech and both men turn and face me chuckling.
"Well I mean, I'm pretty proud of it myself actually!" Andrew gushes.
It's only then that I notice the small door on the left had side of the room, I open it and it reveals and en-suite bathroom. The bathtub is just as big as the one at home which I'm pleased about. The shower is huge and the rest of the room is clean and lives up to the rest of the apartment.
I turn around and face Darren who's watching me carefully."I want this. I want this apartment."
He stares right back at me,
"Well, as long as your father agrees. We can have it ready for you to move in next week."

So here we are, 4 chapters down and many more to go. I've enjoyed every minute of writing this book so far. Every chapter is a new, and hopefully improved written piece of work.
Please, feel free to send feedback, I'd still love to hear from you all.
But FINALLY, they've met Andrew and had a look around the apartment! Even been offered it!
Whatever could happen next...... I wonder.
Keep reading to find out.
Thank you :)
