It was the day of my flight and I wanted nothing more than to leave. When I finished high school I decided I wouldn't go on to college immediately, instead I would travel, so I guess you can call it a gap year.

Why I wanted to leave so badly, well, I like learning new things, and I couldn't do that by staying in Miami, because of my parents. Sophomore year, I landed an amazing job, I was being paid $16 an hour, and I wanted to be independent. I even paid my parents rent, bought most of my food, my clothes, and trust me it felt great. But I needed more.

One thing that has helped me, and something I have grown to love is saving. I'm about to start traveling and in my savings account by itself I have $35,152. I know right!

The main reason I had so much money was because I exchanged stocks, and I was doing very well. I lived in the Coral Gables, which is in South Florida, as a child my parents never took me anywhere, because they were very protective of me. It got overwhelming and it limited me from doing greater things in life. So . . . sophomore year I had a very serious talk with them, and that's when I got my job. Back on topic . . . it was the day of my flight!!!

Where was I going . . . my birthplace . . .  Cannes, it was a beautiful place on the French Rivera. I would be staying with my aunt, Margaux, she insisted, and staying with her would save me tons of money. I was looking forward to this, and I had been planning this since junior year.

If you knew me you wouldn't think I would be excited. Things rarely impress me, but today I was genuinely excited. It was the day I got to leave.

Father insisted me on taking the jet because he knew I would be traveling, and he assured me I wouldn't have to worry about parking and fuel because the pilot had it covered. Many people asked me why I so eagerly wanted to leave the commodities of living with my parents in Manhattan. They didn't know that I was running away from the commodities, I was running away from the pressure. Those commodities came with a heavy burden.

I was the heir to my fathers Enterprise and that made me a target for attention. My parents . . . in specific my father . . . told me what to wear, what car to drive, how to eat and one of the worst things . . . who to talk to.

His desire was for me to marry the mayor's daughter, because it would be good for the company, and to keep them satisfied, I acted like I was dating her. They knew I was faking, but as long as the people believed it, they were convent.

Then I told them what I was planning they were shocked, but they agreed to give me 3 months to travel. Where would I go . . . I honestly didn't care . But I always liked France, but not Paris, my father has a headquarters there and most of the people know him. So my closest friend, Liam, told me to go to Cannes. He was in Spain and would get to Cannes in two days with a girl he met called Piper.

As I walked downstairs, I see my mom talking to Sofia. They both smile when they see me and I forced a smile back. Sofia got up to give me her usual hug, and my mom glared at me, telling me not to ignore her. They were going to give me a hard time and today was not the day.
