Years later, all the kids were in high school.
It was okay. Then there was drama.
The drama started in French class.
Baguette was teaching as usual. Most of the kids chose this as their foreign language elective, since they knew he was qualified.
His son, Jacques- Jaq for short- was as usual poking fun of Sierra, one of the Sawco twins. It was mostly because of her glasses and love of things considered "nerdy".
"Cut that out!" Chandrima, her twin, screamed at Jaq in French.
Jaq let out a spew of insults in many other languages.
Baguette sighs. "Jaq, your grandfather would be disappointed."
Jaq sighs and glares at the two.
"Chandrima, you get an extra ten points for that," he added. "Unnecessary perfect pronunciation."
Chandrima blew a raspberry at Jaq.
Afterwards the bell rang. The twins headed to Science, taught by the one and only Test Tube.
"Jaq is a jerk. Ignore him." Chandrima sets up some lab equipment.
Sierra nods.
The bell rings, and Test Tube tells everyone to settle down.
"Good morning. Today's lesson is going to be a little bit different."
"And how so?" Olivia, Oreo and Pudding Cup's daughter, blurted with her hand raised.
"Well, Olivia, today's lesson is on territorial genetics."
"What the fludge is THAT?" She responds.
"It didn't come up until we were threatened. Soooo I have to teach it." Test Tube yawns and pulls up a Power Point.
"This school and the area surrounding it is considered a Neutral Zone. This is where Territorial Genetics don't affect anyobject. However, there are sectors. What sector you can survive in depends on your or your parents' object show. If you go too long into another territory without a special antidote attached, you'll die within the next two hours."
The class began to murmur. Test Tube quiets them all down.
"I don't know how this happened, but what I know is that we're all united: we are Objects, kiddos. No matter what your elders fought for, whether paradise, a hefty cash prize, or maybe even a roll of toilet paper, this shouldn't be happening."
Test Tube was right. After that lesson, the object children were determined to make it right, whether their parents competed for toilet paper or not.
