"Oh no, I'm late again!!!" Marinette screams as she looks down at her phone to realize that she slept through her alarm for the third time this week. "You must be more careful and manage your time better." Utters Tikki as Marinette runs around her room frantically to get ready. "I know I know! Now stop giving me a lecture, we have to get going!" Marinette places Tikki in her small bag, shovels down her breakfast and sprints to school before her parents can question why she is late.
On her way to school she gets a text from her best friend Alya. "Girl, are you coming today? The teacher is about to take attendance." Marinette whipped out her phone and quickly replied with, "Yes! I'm headed up the stairs now!" Marinette trips coming up the stairs and once more just before she was about to enter the classroom. "Marinette Dupain-Cheng?" Called out her teacher, Miss Bustier. As soon as she uttered her name, Marinette stumbled in yelling, "PRESENT!!" Her books and supplies went flying, she could already feel the embarrassment even if this had happened before. "Marinette! Are you alright?" Asked Miss. Bustier. Everyone in the room gasped except for one student, Chloé Bourgeois, who was laughing hysterically. "Honestly, can't you be on time for anything Marinette? It's really pathetic." Chloé spat out in a rude tone. Adrien shot her a dirty look before standing up and helping Marinette. "Hey Chloé cut it out, maybe she had a reason to be late.." Marinette felt a deep blush form over face as she felt her stomach swoop when Adrien helped her up. "You okay?" He asked, smiling softly. Marinette grinned widely, then attempted to speak. "Y-Yes I'm fine!!.. You thank Adrien!.... I mean!.. Adrien yes!!!... I MEAN!!..." Now, the whole class was laughing at her. Marinette frowned at another failed attempt to speak to Adrien. "Yes... Th-Thank you.." Adrien smiled sweetly at Marinette when she was finally able to speak a complete sentence, which he found extremely adorable. "It's no problem at all." Marinette gathered her things together and sat next to Alya, grunting as she sat down. "Let me guess, slept through your alarm again?" Alya playfully shoved Marinette's shoulder, giggling slightly. "Y-Yeah... I need to manage my time better." Alya laughed softly again at Marinette's response. "No kidding girl!" They both shared a laugh before class finally began.
Once the school day ended, Marinette and Alya walked out together like they usually do. Only this time, Adrien wasn't behind them. Usually he walked out behind them every single day, she found this odd. "Hey Alya, did you notice Adrien isn't behind us with Nino?" Alya couldn't help but laugh. "No, but I'm not surprised at all that you noticed." Marinette laughed along with Alya before parting their separate ways.
As Marinette made her way home, she felt as if someone was watching her. Feeling extra paranoid, she turned around quickly thus letting out a sigh of relief to see no one was following her after all. However, just because someone wasn't behind her, doesn't mean someone wasn't stalking her. Chat Noir purred slightly, feeling a smirk grow on his face. "Pretty soon M'Lady, you will know of me. Better than you already think you do~"
