Chapter 2

Alex's POV

My name is Alex I am 18 years old and I am apart of the PNW pack. I have 2 older brothers, Dylan who is 22, and Matt who is 20, unfortunately I am the only female in the house anymore. Sadly our mother passed away 3 months ago from cancer. I am still struggling with it but, that is a story for another time. My father is a Colonel in the Bowman's army. It is a tradition in our family for every man to join the packs army but now that I am 18 I have decided to join as well. 

Let me explain how the army works now, the US military still exists but since it is run by werewolves then we have all the resources. All the packs have a branch some have army, some have the air force, others have marines, and navy. Both my brothers have already enlisted and are serving our pack proud. Dylan is a First Sergeant and Matt is a Staff Sergeant. I go off to boot camp in 3 days. I am super excited.

I was eating breakfast when my dad sat down at the table with the paper "Good morning Alex," he said.

"Good morning Sir," I said back to him. 

I looked at the time and saw I was running late. I got up kissed my dad on the cheek and put my hoodie on.

"Alex keep your head held high, you will find your mate soon, everyone does eventually. Oh, and make me proud," he said with a smile. 

I left and got onto my bike, and by bike I don't mean bicycle, I mean my Kawasaki Ninja 650. I put my helmet on and rode to the base. Our packs territory is the size of Washington and Oregon put together since we don't have states anymore. I was driving along and thinking about how I haven't found my mate yet and all of a sudden some bitch in a Civic ran a stop sign and I slammed on my brakes and flew over the handle bars landing on the ground. I heard wheels screeching and my bike scrapped on the cement. I cringed at the sound, my poor bike. 

My head was swimming as I was laying on the ground staring up at the blue sky. I took my helmet off and threw it to the side. I closed my eyes and heard someone run over to me.

"Oh my god are you okay!?" the female voice asked.

I sat up while rubbing my head, "No, what the fuck were you doing! I could have been.." I trailed off as I saw the girl talking to me. 

"Oh my, please forgive me Princess Penny." I stood up and wobbled a little bit. 

"No, it was all my fault," she said. "Are you okay?" she said as she grabbed my arm and helped me stand up.

I looked in her eyes and my heart was beating so fast I couldn't calm down. I have never looked into her eyes before they were the most beautiful shade of grey. "ye.. yes," I stuttered "I'm fine, are you okay?" I asked she smiled and said shes fine.

She was staring at me. "You have amazing eyes, they are so blue." 

I smiled back and thanked her I told her my name was Alex. 

"You can just call me Penny." 

"Penny forgive me if I am being to forward but I have never felt this feeling before." I looked at her finger and she had no ring. It is customary for a mate to give each other promise rings or mate rings. So I knew she was single. 

She looked at me and then smiled and opened her mouth but hesitated, "I think you are my mate Alex." she said and my heart dropped. I smiled and reached to grab her hand and she smiled. 

" I think I am too, I have never felt this way about anybody before." I said. 

We stood there and just held hands, no cars drive this way often. "So where were you going? If I may ask." She said.

"To the base. I am being trained." I told her and she frowned a little, "Why are you frowning?" I asked her.

"I don't know, I just got this feeling of worry." she said and I smiled. She cares about me already.

I let go of her hand and picked up my helmet, and went and picked up my bike. I looked at the damage, nothing I couldn't fix. I looked in the mirror. My hair was a mess. I fixed my medium length brown hair, I was about 5 foot 6 or so Penny was about the same height. I was average sized but more muscular. Don't mean to toot my own horn but I do workout a lot.

Penny walked over to me and asked what I was doing. 

I smiled and turned and kissed her cheek. I backed up "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that." I said and looked down. 

Penny grabbed my chin and kissed my lips. Her lips were so soft. I put my hands on her hips as our kiss deepened. I licked her lip lightly and she opened her lips for me. She put her arms on my shoulders and her tongue touched mine. It was getting so hot and passionate. I lowered my hands and grabbed her ass. She moaned a little and I squeezed her ass. I have never been more attached to anyone in my life. I wanted more, so much more. But I had to stop. I pulled back and looked at her she was so beautiful. 

"Penny, I.. I know this is happening so quickly but, we are supposed to be together and I want this to work. Will you please go steady with me?" I asked and she smiled and kissed my lips again.

"Of course I will Alex." 

I smiled back at her and started thinking what do we do now. I still had my hands on her hips and I put my hand in her front pocket and she gasped a little, and I smiled as I grabbed her phone. I put my number in there and put it back. 

"Listen Penny I need to tell you something, I leave for boot camp in 3 days." I said.

"How long is that?" she asked.

"A month, or maybe more depending if I do special training." I said. She frowned. I grabbed her chin. "Hey, don't be sad. I will be back." 

"Why do we have to meet now, right before you go to boot camp."

I explained how its tradition in my family and I can't change anything.

She kissed me again and I asked her if I can take her out tomorrow night. She smiled and agreed. 

"I need to go now Penny, I have to go train. I can't wait to see you again tomorrow. Text me tonight okay?" 

"Okay." She said.

I kissed her again and let her go and watched as she walked back to her little car. Damn I don't mean to be a pig, but that girl has got an ass. She is beautiful. I can't believe she is my mate. I put my helmet on and started the bike and took off to base.
