Chapter 2

The security guard slammed the door in my Mothers face. Press inched closer and closer to the point one of them was standing right inside of me. That’s right I could feel a cold flash that made me jump out of the way. I backed away slowly looking at my lips that were slowly turning blue. What happened? Why did this happen? Slowly everything faded to black everywhere I looked it was black. Then a bright blinding light was right in front of me. It was so nice and warm I felt myself slowly float towards it. Slowly things became clear I was sitting the one place I felt safe in my Grama’s living room on a cliff over looking the beach. “Grama, Grama where are you‼” I looked around everywhere but I couldn’t find her. When I back to where I started. There was a man sitting in my favorite chair reading a book. “Um excuse me sir…but who exactly are you and what are you doing in my Gramas’ house.” He gave me a warm smile “is that where we are I was wondering. You see when people come to early we usually meet in they’re favorite spot.” I took a few minutes to think about what he was saying to me. “Wait do you mean I’m really dead..” “Yes my dear” he took my hand “take a moment it’s a lot to take in at first.” I slowly sank down into the chair that was behind me “so why are you here,” I turned to face the man. “Well my dear I’m here to explain your options. You have two you see, first you could return to Earth and try and find why and who did this, second you could join me and go all the way into the light and join the EDR or the Early Death Relievers. You see what we…” “The first one please let me do the first one. I know I’m not who the gun man was aiming for I have to save my mother.” He shook his head and smiled “I knew you were going to chose that. Most people do but I must warn you. If you do not find out who did this you will never be able to return. You must find and have the person captured. The second part is usually what most people cannot do. You see we can not be seen or heard in that world now.” I thought about it for a moment. Would it be worth it? Everything was so nice here but then my Moms’ face flashed across my mind. “I have to go back. I have to save her.” Okay my dear I wish you the best and with a wave of his hand I was back in my room I looked around and noticed a weird shape in the corner of my room. I moved closer to it to see what it was when it moved and I realized it was my Mom she was curled up in a ball holding my picture and my favorite shirt that I always wore. “I’m so sorry baby girl” she cried, “I never should have brought you with. If I had known something like this was going to happen. It’s my job to protect you and it’s now my fault that you’re gone.” I crouched next to her and put my hand on her shoulder and whispered “It’s okay Mama I’m here. I’m okay I promise. It’s my turn I’m going to make sure you stay safe.” I sat next to her wishing I could tell her I was okay. I hugged her the best I could since when ever I went to touch her my hands slipped threw her and it felt like a cold electric shock. Later my Dad came in. Apparently he hadn’t heard the news because my Mother had to tell him. He fell to his knees and bawled his eyes out. When he was able to compose himself he made his way over to where mom and me were. He hugged her and I was trapped in the middle. No matter how painful it was I wouldn’t move I couldn’t move I had to be here with my parents protecting my parents. It was my job now even if they didn’t know it. I was going to be they’re guardian angel.
