Darkness tenderly caressed the trees of the forbidden forest like an old lover. The crescent moon gazed on placidly, wrapping its monstrous tendrils around the branches of the tallest pine. Aromas of the dirt, carelessly ground under centaurs hooves and numerous other creatures filled the air. Everything in the forest and surrounds was currently as it should be.

In the distance an owl hooted, not once but twice. It was a barn owl with simple brown feathers and simple yellow eyes, however the letter and perhaps even its destination were far from simple. Under the glow of moonlight the letter shone a silvery white, bearing a strange crest.

Ahead of the bird was a gargantuan castle, sitting beside an enormous black lake. Through the transparent windows of the castle you could see the very few lights that were on flicker and wave at the incoming owl, their warmth seeping through even the thickest of glass panes. However happy the lights may have been to see the owl, one female student was even more jovial. Of tall stature with olive skin and freckles, the girl was particularly pretty. She had long curly black hair, as black as the midnight sky. She had not seen the owl yet, but would when he slammed into the window she was sitting by, denting the precious mail. The letter was addressed to her, from a quidditch team, the Holyhead Harpies.

"Oh Mercury! You should know by now not to go crashing into windows," Juno joked with the bird before removing the letter from its envelope. She stroked the Holyhead Harpies crest carefully, smoothing out the awful creases while reminiscing about her wonderful training session just a month before. Juno Anderson's one goal in her life was to play for the Harpies and this letter determined whether or not she would. With shaky hands she unfolded the pearly white paper to reveal the contrasting jet black ink. You could almost taste the anticipation that flooded the air.

Juno's eyes scanned the page before she sighed with happiness as a huge grin swamped her face. She had done it and was due to have the first game on Sunday exactly two weeks away, a day after the match against Ravenclaw. Ravenclaw were tough, so excellent practice - not to mention Louis Weasley was on that team.

Juno had plenty of friends and admirers but one boy eluded her completely. Louis Weasley. He was tall, blond and incredibly handsome - all the girls thought he was marvellous. Juno however, had decidedly mixed feelings. On one hand she thought he was a stuck up son of a veela but then again, she just couldn't help but smile at the way he walked down the corridor to potions.

Juno Anderson had fallen asleep by the grand arched window of Gryffindor tower. Her light snuffling echoed throughout the darkened dormitory. The seventh year like many others thought all her magical life would be perfect. She was blissfully unaware of what was to come.
