~ A few weeks later ~

Out of breath and beyond tired I quickly hide behind a large bin, the dark alley hiding me from view. The thunder practically roars, lightening lighting up the sky like a damn explosion, cracking over the distant ocean in illuminating streaks.

"She went this way!" A voice shouts in the distance, and I hear heavy pounds of feet splashing in the large pools of dirty water, lowly growing closer.

Despite being half frozen and worn out, I push myself from my hiding spot. Sprinting down the alleyway I stick to the shadows to remain hidden as much as possible, taking a sharp left at the end. My legs turn numb as I push myself faster, breathing rapidly as I struggle to grasp air into my lungs. Panic and adrenaline coursing through my veins.

The pounding of footsteps slowly begins to fade the further I run, taking street after street in a sheer rush to get away.

The rain lashing down like a waterfall helps to conceal my appearance from watchful eyes.

The city begins to change the further I travel, the dark rough part of the city fading away in the background. Along with the police chasing after me.

Turning down near the train tracks away from the houses and lights, I spot a small wooden hut to the side of the rails. Knowing it's big enough for me to hide inside for the night I quickly cross the tracks. The storm making it hard not to slip.

Finding my footing I practically dive under the old wooden hut, not caring that it smells like stale alcohol and urine. For now I just need to get dry and sleep a little.

That's exactly what I do. Curling up into a tight ball I ignore the frozen quiver of my body and shut my eyes.

The first thing that wakes me up is the burning feeling against my bare arms and face. The dryness in my throat making me cough as I squint open my eyes.

For the first time in almost three weeks, the sun is shining. The grey clouds gone from sight, leaving only bright blue sky and a beaming bright white sun. Usually I'd be glad for the warmth, however considering I now smell like urine, sweat, filth and alcohol, I wish it would rain.

Luckily it's only early morning, so seeing as it's going to be a warm day I decide to head to the beach before anyone else does.

Standing up I brush off the dirt although my clothes are still filthy, and I begin my journey to the beach which I know isn't too far. Maybe half an hour depending on how fast I walk.

Once I'm there I quickly head down to the almost blue ocean, thankful that it's not dirty sea.

Stripping out of my clothes and bag, I lay them out on the dry sand, taking them down into the ocean one by one to scrub the dirt out of them. Hopefully they'll smell a little better.

As my clothes dry on the sand I take out the almost empty bottles of cheap toiletries, and head back into the ocean, in only my underwear. And I wash myself completely, not caring that it's the ocean. Water is water.

After scrubbing every inch of my body and hair, my products run dry. Just like everything else I had.

So I take my underwear off and scrub them clean as much as I can, before putting them back on. Wet or not I have no other choice.

Walking out of the almost freezing ocean I head back up the sand to my few belongings, and grab the thin t-shirt from inside. The only items I have now are my hairbrush, this t-shirt, one pair of jeans, a thin jumper, my ruined and torn dolly shoes, and my toothbrush. I have no more toothpaste, no more shampoo, no more body wash. My shoes needing tossing in the bin, but then that means I'll be barefoot.
