Can't we just be friends?

Chapter 9: Feelings

-Flashback-

One night, the two of them were drinking soju and whispering among themselves in order not to wake the others up. They had bought a few soju bottles because they wanted to celebrate their anniversary. A few years ago, this day was the day they officially debuted. Jinyoung was feeling tipsy but demanded a drinking competition. "Hyung, let's see who can drink the most glasses of soju" Jinyoung's eyes glinted. "The winner gets to ask the loser for a request." Jaebum looked at Jinyoung and smirked. "You know, you are going to lose. You are already drunk. Why bother playing if you are going to lose anyway?" Jinyoung shot Jaebum a glare. "I am not drunk. And I can win you." Jaebum rolled his eyes at Jinyoung. "Yea I know you and your competitive streak. I heard how you beat Jackson at drinking. But you got to know that I show no mercy like Jackson though, I drink a lot." Jaebum then downed the whole glass of soju. Not to be outdone, Jinyoung grabbed a glass from the table and poured out a whole cup full of soju. "Bring it on." 

After a while, the soju bottle was almost empty and the two of them just collapsed on the couch. "Just one more glass..." Jaebum was slightly soberer and grabbed the glass out of Jinyoung's hands. He placed it on the table. "That is enough. Don't push yourself." Jinyoung pouted. "Fine you win." Jinyoung started mumbling some unintelligible words which goes along the line "jb is a asdoeke" and Jaebum just started laughing at Jinyoung. Jinyoung instantly covered Jaebum's mouth with his hand.  "You are too loud, you are going to wake everyone up!" Jinyoung hissed and glared at Jaebum even when drunk, his reflexes are still quick. Jaebum chuckled and then Jinyoung removed his hand. "so do I get my request now?" Jinyoung slurred "yea go ahead" Jaebum took his own sweet time much to Jinyoung's annoyance. "How about you pay for the next meal? Wait--I changed my mind...How about locking yourself up in the same room with Bambam and Yugyeom for a night?" Jinyoung shuddered at the thought of hanging out with the crazy brats. Jinyoung kicked Jaebum in retaliation. Jaebum fell out of the couch and groaned in pain. "That was so painful! Ouch, I think my hips are broken. I can't walk." "Really, I didn't even use that much force." Jaebum got up from the floor and pretended to have difficulty walking. He limped. Jinyoung sat up from the couch. Jinyoung looked in disbelief and walked up to Jaebum. "Let me see it" Jaebum lifted his shirt and claimed that there was a bruise. Jinyoung looked worried and guilty. He only kicked Jaebum jokingly. Right when Jinyoung was going to apologise to his hyung, Jaebum burst out in laughter and yelled "GOTCHA!! I can't believe you fell for it." Jinyoung slammed his hand onto Jaebum's mouth. "Shut up! Are you trying to wake the others?" Jinyoung had backed Jaebum into a wall. Up-close, Jaebum could admire Jinyoung's facial features. Jinyoung turned to walk away but he had instantly switched their positions. Jinyoung ended up pressed against the wall and he looked confused. 

Jaebum's eyes darted from his eyes to his nose and then to his lips. Even when angry Jinyoung still looks pretty. He felt the urge to try something. Jinyoung narrowed his eyes "Why are you looking at me like that?" Jinyoung started to feel dizzy. "My head isn't feeling so good now, I am going to sleep..." Jinyoung tried to get out of Jaebum's grasp. "Jinyoung, I want to confirm something, stop moving..." Jinyoung stopped struggling and tilted his head only to see Jaebum leaning in. Jaebum's head got closer and closer and Jinyoung's brain froze. He held his breath and slowly shut his eyes.  

Jaebum pulled Jinyoung into a fervent kiss. Jaebum chased after his lips but Jinyoung resisted and weakly pushed him away. Jaebum stopped kissing him when he knew that Jinyoung didn't want to and then he carried him back to his room. He had also cleared out the soju bottles and whatever mess they created. 

Perhaps they shouldn't have played the drinking game. They didn't know that they were being watched. The kiss should not have happened. But it was also evident to Jaebum that Jinyoung doesn't love him.
