A New Distance - Fallacy x Encre (Book Three)

Chapter 24

I arrive back in my village and guards are handing me back my things as I slowly fix my clothing. I kiss the heads of a few children and welcome leaders from the other villages. It is still half an hour till the meeting is supposed to happen.

Suddenly there is screaming. I and a few of my fellow leaders then see Eterna.
"Cauchemar!!!" She shouts. I walk towering over her letting my spine go further apart. "Hello Eterna, forgive my grandfather but he has past away, very many years ago." I state calmly with a little coldness. "Then who is the main leader?" She asks. "That would be me." I say letting black magic role down my face to terrify her. She swallows hard. I go back to my normal size and smile as a child runs over. "Leader!!! Papa broke the bond with my mama!!! Does that mean I will disappear?" The child asks with tears streaming down their face as they hold onto me for dear life. I look them in the eyes and place a hand on their cheek. "Of course not my dear. What happens between your parents is never your fault. But if you get abandoned you go right up to the big castle and tell me. I will remember your face. *wipes tears away* The only time you disappear is if you are not born yet. And you have clearly been here for awhile my dear." I say gently with a small smile. I take a hand of the child's and place it against my head and they then place it against theirs. I smile before picking them up.

"Eterna... I suggest you take your troops and yourself and leave." I state coldly to her. "I am not leading them, I come with a message from the King of Vampires." I hear. My blood is starting to boil. I start to curse and swear in my thoughts as I walk away with the child. I give them to their mother and smile gently "Take good care of them." I say gently as I go back. "What is this message?" I ask very darkly. She gulps seeing the anger on my face. "He orders that the return of Encre his previous mate be given to him and not held captive here any longer by his current mate and child-." She says before I cut her off. The lords and I are already laughing so hard at what she said. She looks pissed off. "If I do not go back with him. He said I would be killed before entering the area." She says loudly. "Well..." I answer calming down for. "I must ask you this, has he grown up yet? Maybe he realized that he made a GRAVE mistake!" I say and the leaders all laugh. "Leader your mate and child want to see you before your meetings begin." I hear. I nod to the guard beside me. My voice is completely calm as I turn and say "I shall be there very soon." I then look at Eterna and laugh hard. She is standing there dumbfounded. "Inked we should go now." I hear. "Where is Encre?" She asks. "You are looking at him. But I have not gone by that name in decades. Take care when going back alone." I state coldly. I then turn and my fellow leaders turn and start walking. "Wait you are Encre... You... You never look so happy." She says. "Then that is a sign." Another lord says. "Enc-.... Inked please... Let me stay here... I cannot go back, he will kill me if I do not come back with you." She says falling to her knees. I lean over to a guard. "Check if there is another housing unit here in the village." I whisper.  "You can stay, but my guards will be keeping a very close eye on you. Most things you do will be reported to me at all times. And as I say to everyone, you are free to leave when ever you want, just know that you have a family waiting for you. Oh and Eterna for you getting a job... Labours are looking for people to help out. You will be fine." I say gently. She bows her head and says "Thank you." "Oh... One more thing... Any communication to him... Will mean treason, I take the safety of my people very, very seriously." I say calmly. She nods. "And come to the castle yard after being given labour clothing, dresses do not suit you. I have seen you in pants for so long, it would be disturbing." I say before walking away.

Time skip...

"It is settled then?" I ask. They all nod. I stand and remove my cape and so do the rest. "Who is ready to have fun?" I ask. They all smile and shake their heads. The leaders are all different. Male and female, and all different types of species, but two things bring us all together. We all all love and care for our people and that we are all Rogue.

"Inked why are you letting Eterna stay here?" I hear suddenly. I stop and smile. "She gave me mercy as a child. She was the only one there when it was discovered I was a cursed. She was going to kill me at first, but I begged her to let me live. She helped me blend in and I went far beyond what she ever asked. Then more people found out while she was training me and she was just going to help me escape but... as I said I went further. In front of all the leaders of the hunting camp I ripped out my own fangs and torn my own wings off, well I clawed them off. She has kept me safe many of my years. I thought it would be time for me to return the favor, additionally I know she is not lying. The vampire king is not a kind man." I answer. Looks of shock are around the room. "Why?" I hear. "Why what?" I ask. "Ripping your own wings off and your teeth?" Someone says. "My little brother means everything to me. I would do anything to be with him." I state. "It is true." I hear. "You have any idea how many times, he jumped in front of things to protect me?" I hear. He comes over and we check for concealed weapons. I sweat drop hard. "Why do you have THREE?" I ask. "I am glad I did, those mortals are awfully close but they are heading north-west." I hear. The horns start to go off. I fully dress and bring my little brother with me. The other leaders follow suit as we all come to seeing mortals outside the gate. "VAMPIRE KING!!! WE HAVE COME TO KILL YOU!!!" I hear. I use my magic to make my clothes bigger as my spine grows. My eyes begin to glow bright green as well as everyone else's in the village. I approach the person. "Welcome to the Rogue Capital. And we cannot let you go much further. Vampires are our lunch." I say coldly leaning over to them. "By decree of the Mortal king himself, the help of Rogues is requested as your numbers have gone down over the years, in thanks we offer all human Rogues refuge in return!" The mortal human shouts. The leaders behind me burst into laughter. "Are you pitting war against us?" I ask coldly. The mortals look scared. "Here we all live in harmony, no species is greater than another, neither is gender. Go kill just the vampire king if you want. He has a weak spot on his left side." I state before going back to normal. "So you refuse to join us." He says. I loom over him and say "Trust me I would love to kill the king, but if you cannot remember history books. Vampires and Rogues are always at war unless there is a mate bond between two Nobles. And I am not marrying off my child to that filth." I growl angrily. "Leader they have a stake to your throat." I hear. "It might hurt but you cannot kill me." I state. "Plus if you want to die keep it there." I chuckle my eyes going red. They pull it away and I lean back. "I would leave if I were you." I state. Another person from the back shouts "If you do not surrender the humans we will be forced to turn our fire on you."

One of the human leaders walk by me and they are not the most attractive rogue I have ever seen. A few people jump back getting a good look at them as their eyes turn red. "I am the leader for most humans. Care to take a walk with me? I would love to join you all, just so you know we all mostly look like this. Only the cursed look anything like you guys." They cackle.  'Inked... Where are you?' I hear. 'Do not exit the gates.' I state briskly in return. 'What is wrong?' I hear. 'Hunters looking for humans, any that look normal, they will take you if you exit.' I say then I hear "ADALINE NO!!!" I then smell blood and hear screaming. "ADALINE!!!" I hear Twilight scream. I turn to see Twilight being grabbed. I turn and take the mortal by the throat. I crush their throat. Twilight is looking at me in horror. "I tried to stop her... I tried..." She sobs into me.

"Leader..." I hear. "No hunter in the area is to be left alive as planned. They will all parish." I say angrily. Fighting and screaming breaks out around me. I stand and look at my daughter's dust. A great sorrow fills me. I know that I was never supposed to mate with another other than Fallacy. So I guess this is my punishment. Tears slip from my eyes as Twilight holds onto me sobbing. I let out a cry of grief with my wife at the loss of our precious Adaline. Other cries are heard through out the kingdom. Soon the whole forest is filled with crying as death is soon surrounding us all. I see Reaper holding Adaline's hand. "I will take care of her from now on." He says. I nod slowly. I lower my head as he turns and disappears.

Suddenly Toriel appears and leans down in front of us as I begin to weep. "Encre... You know better... You are not allowed happiness in large amounts here. Not until you cross over." She says. Twilight is staring at Toriel. "What do you mean?" She asks. "This is the longest he has been happy, and he is far off timeline. He must go back to him for him to ever possibly feel happiness again for as long as he did." Toriel answers. It then becomes silent as more tears leak from my eyes and into my daughter's dust.
