SHACKLES

SHACKLES
I swallow these words as
They try to force their way out
I try to move forward as
I moon-walk into the future

The droplets of rain on my skin
Brought me to the reality of the season
But if rain could free me from these chains
I wouldn’t be like abandoned man in prison

Cos I’m surrounded by flesh eating lions
Who wouldn’t let me voice my pains
And even when I try
They remind me that I’m in chains

They castigate my every move
And congratulate my silence
Maybe they just don’t understand the words I choose
But make me feel like it wouldn’t make a difference

So, I let out these words
As they try to force their way out
Cos the truth must be told
Even when all we want to hear are lies

Of how we can fly to the skies
Without necessarily leaving the ground
And be a successful business man
Without having to deal with customers

Well, the truth must be told
Of how we’ve made corruption a core-option
How we’ve made honesty to be forgotten
And grow healthy in our deceitful ways

So, I Let out these words
Unsure of what the response would be
Cos if the painter did not make mistakes
Some great designs wouldn’t have been made.

Peace!
